The sternoclavicular joint (a.k.a. sternoclavicular articulation)<span> is the </span>joint<span> between the </span>manubrium of the sternum<span> and the </span>clavicle bone<span>. Although it is structurally classified as a synovial saddle joint, it is functionally classified as a diarthrosis and biaxial joint. It is a very strong joint with a large degree of mobility involved in the elevation, depression, protraction, and retraction of the shoulders, and rotation of the arms. </span>
