Solution:

<u>Note that:</u>

  • If a fraction is being divided by another fraction, that fraction will become it's reciprocal and the sign will change to multiplication.
  • Example: x/6 ÷ y/2 = x/6 × 2/y

<u>The question is saying "half of 1 1/2".</u>

  • => half of 1 1/2 = 1 1/2 ÷ 2 = <u>1 1/2 x 1/2</u>

Option C is correct.

Answer:

C.  1\dfrac{1}{2}  *  \dfrac{1}{2}

Explanation:

They swam for total  1\dfrac{1}{2}  hours. Half of this hours they spent swimming laps.

Thus the equation:  1\dfrac{1}{2}  *  \dfrac{1}{2} =  \dfrac{3}{4} hours

don't confuse!   \frac{1}{2} refers to ÷ 2

Easier method:

  • given that they swam for 1\dfrac{1}{2}, that's 1.5 hours in decimals.
  • half hours: 1.5 ÷ 2 = 0.75 hours which is  \dfrac{3}{4} hours in fraction.

  • we can find  \dfrac{3}{4} from option C only thus its our answer.

Who Washes? Erica and Aaron, who are siblings, have decided to use a lottery system to decide who will wash dishes every night.
Anestetic [448]

Given that Erica and AAron, are using lottery system to decide who will wash dishes every night.

They put some red and blue power chips and draw each one.  If same colour, Aaron will wash and if not same colours Erica will wash

If the game is to be fair, then both should have equal chances of opportunity for washing.

i.e. Probability for Erica washing = Prob of Aaron washing

i.e. P(different chips) = P(same colour chips)

Say there are m red colours and n blue colours.

Both are drawing at the same time.

Hence Prob (getting same colour) = (mC2+nC2)/(m+n)C2

Probfor different colour = mC1+nC1/(m+n)C2

The two would be equal is mC2 +nC2 = m+n

This is possible if mC2 =m and nC2 = n.

Or m = 2+1 =3 and n =3

That for a fair game we must have both colours to be 3.

How do you graph f(x)=|x^2-4|?
Citrus2011 [14]
*Hint: When an equation has | it means the absolute value.

Up in the attachment I have provided above is the way that equation should be graphed.

Because the x is squared, it's known that the graph will have a parabola. The -4 is showing the indent it will have.

daniel kicks a soccer ball and the trajectory is modeled by f(t) = -16t^ +32t. what would be the value of f(1)
PtichkaEL [24]

Answer:

f(1)=16

Step-by-step explanation:

f(t)=-16t+32t

f(1)=-16(1)+32(1)

f(1)=-16+32

f(1)=16
