A basketball player is shooting a basketball toward the net. The height, in feet, of the ball t seconds after the shot is modele

d by the equation h = 6 30t – 16t2. Two-tenths of a second after the shot is launched, an opposing player leaps up to block the shot. The height of the shot blocker’s outstretched hands t seconds after he leaps is modeled by the equation h = 9 25t – 16t2. If the ball was on a path to reach the net 1. 7 seconds after the shooter launches it, does the leaping player block the shot? yes, exactly 0. 6 seconds after the shot is launched yes, between 0. 64 seconds and 0. 65 seconds after the shot is launched yes, between 0. 84 seconds and 0. 85 seconds after the shot is launched no, shot not blocked.

The shot was blocked between 0.84 and 0.85 seconds after the shot is launched.

<h3>what will be the time in which the blocker will block the ball?</h3>

The given equation for ball height

=6+30t-16t^{2}

The equation for the blocker's height will be

=9+25t-16t^{2}

But, the shot is made before two-tenths of a second or 0.2 seconds therefore modified equation for ball height is

=6+30(t-0.2)-16(t-0.2)^{2}

Now for the shot to be blocked, the height of the shot-blocker must be greater than the height of the ball which is shot before 0.2 seconds :

9+25t-16t^{2} \geq 6+30(t-0.2)-16(t-0.2)^{2}

9+25t-16t^{2} \geq6+30t-6-16(t^{2} -0.4t+0.04)

9+25t-16t^{2} \geq30t-16t^{2} -6.4t+0.64

9+25t\geq36.4t-0.64

9.64\geq11.4t

t \leq \dfrac{9.64}{11.4}=0.846

Thus the shot was blocked between 0.84 and 0.85 seconds after the shot is launched.

Michael and Landon work at a dry cleaners ironing shirts. Michael can iron 40 shirts per hour, and Landon can iron 20 shirts per
BartSMP [9]

Answer:

Michael worked 4 hours and Landon worked 10 hours.

Step-by-step explanation:

Michael can iron 40 shirts each hour, so in xx hours he can iron 40x40x shirts. Landon can iron 20 shirts each hour, so in yy hours he can iron 20y20y shirts. The total number of shirts ironed 40x+20y equals 360:

40x+20y=360

40x+20y=360

Since Michael and Landon worked a combined 14 hours, we know x+yx+y must equal 14.

x+y=14

Write System of Equations:

40x+20y= 360

x+y=14

Solve for y in each equation:

40x+20y = 360  x+y = 14 20y = -40x+360

\frac{-20y}{20} =\frac{-40x+360}{20}

y = -2x+18

Hey can you please help! posted picture of question
frosja888 [35]
The solution of the system can be x - 3y = 4 only if both the equations can be simplified to x - 3y = 4.

This will mean that both the equations will result in the same line which is x - 3y = 4 and thus have infinitely many solutions.

Second equation is:

Qx - 6y = 8
Taking 2 common we get:

(Q/2)x - 3y = 4

Comparing this equation to x- 3y = 4, we can say that

Q/2 = 1
So,
Q = 2

Therefore, the second equation will be:

2x - 6y = 8

Can somebody please solve this? It's a coordinate thingy
statuscvo [17]

Answer:

Coordinates involve two points. (x,y)

Too find a pair (coordinate), use the x and y lines on the graph and see where the point falls.

For example

Point A is number <em>1</em><em> </em><em>on</em><em> </em><em>the</em><em> </em><em>y</em><em> </em><em>axis</em>

<em>number</em><em> </em><em>-</em><em>4</em><em> </em><em>on</em><em> </em><em>the</em><em> </em><em>x</em><em> </em><em>axis</em>

<em>So</em><em>,</em><em> </em><em>you</em><em> </em><em>would</em><em> </em><em>write</em><em> </em><em>the</em><em> </em><em>coordinate</em><em> </em><em>out</em><em> </em><em>at</em><em> </em>

<em>(</em><em>-</em><em>4</em><em>,</em><em>1</em><em>)</em>

The y axis values are the second point, so after you plot all of letters, use the y axis numbers and number them from least to greatest so you can find the mystery word.
