After a federal judge refused to dismiss criminal charges against him, Michael Reed took revenge by electronically filing a UCC

financing statement listing the judge as the debtor on a $3.4 million loan. Reed himself was listed as the secured party. The lien became part of the public record. Reed was prosecuted for violating a statute prohibiting harassment of public officials. Reed argued that he was innocent because the financing statement did not list collateral - and would never have succeeded in perfecting a claim. Is this a good argument? Explain why or why not.

Federal law takes care of several laws that deal with appropriate usage of legal considerations and bindings that affect daily agreements and contractual relationships among common people. UCC is a financing statement that affects the collaterals of different types and the parties involved in this lien statement.

People are____ to drink and drive if they believe their chances of getting caught are high.
Andrej [43]

Answer and Explanation:

I think the answer is B. Less Likely.

This is because they don't want to risk getting caught drinking and driving. Though, in the real world, I think the answer would be C. Just as Likely, because some people don't care until they get caught/arrested.

Are we doing enough to tackle racism? <br> Let me know your opinions.
Aliun [14]

We have not done enough. In fact, we are making this situation worse. Racism is not something to tolerate with through violence, I think if we actually solved the problem with peace and change the minds of others, we will do better. I know someone who was anti-racist, but he got targetted from an anti-racist group and it changed him into a racist. (His name is Paul Miller, he is really inspirational if I am honest)

Is it legal to smoke/have weed in the state of Texas?
Rashid [163]

Answer:

It is still illegal to use or possess marijuana under Texas law — and has been since 1931.

Explanation:

What changed last year is that hemp is considered different from marijuana. Since the law change, prosecutors and state crime labs have dropped hundreds of pending marijuana charges and declined to pursue new ones because they don’t have the resources to detect a substance’s precise THC content, arguably keeping them from the evidence they need to prove in court if a cannabis substance is illegal.

Gov. Greg Abbott and other state officials insisted that the bill didn’t decriminalize marijuana and that the prosecutors don’t understand the new law. Still, marijuana prosecutions in Texas plummeted by more than half in the six months after the law was enacted, according to the data from the Texas Office of Court Administration.

And medical cannabis is legal in Texas in very limited circumstances. Abbott signed the Texas Compassionate Use Act into law in 2015, allowing people with epilepsy to access cannabis oil with less than 0.5% THC. Last year, he signed House Bill 3703, which expanded the list of qualifying conditions to include diseases such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease and Lou Gehrig's disease, or ALS.
