Describe the correlation you would expect with these data sets.

Mathematics

Answer:

(i) no correlation as one variable is not dependent on the other.

(ii)  The age of a car does affects its value.  Therefore, the age will be the independent variable (x-axis) and the value will be the dependent variable (y-axis).  Unless the car is a classic, sought-after car, as the age increases, its value decreases, so this will be a negative correlation.

(iii)  The time spent watching TV <u>may</u> affect exam score (since the more time spent watching TV equals less available time to spend studying).  Therefore, the time spent watching TV will be the independent variable (x-axis) and the exam score will be the dependent variable (y-axis).  As time spent watching TV increases, the exam score <u>could potentially</u> decrease, so this will be a negative correlation.

(iv)  no correlation, since one variable is not dependent on the other.

(v)  The cost of an apartment <u>may</u> affect its sale, but there are many factors that can affect this such as location of the apartment and the buyers it appeals to.  The cost will be the independent variable (x-axis) and the sale will be the dependent variable (y-axis).  In usual circumstances, we would expect to see as the cost of an apartment increases, the sale may decrease, as less and less buyers can afford to buy it, so this will be a negative correlation.

Elis [28]

Answer:

(C)8x^4z^4\sqrt{2yz}

Step-by-step explanation:

We want to determine an expression equivalent to: \sqrt{128x^8y^3z^9}

\sqrt{ab} =\sqrt{a}*\sqrt{b}

Therefore:

\sqrt{128x^8y^3z^9}=\sqrt{128}*\sqrt{x^8}*\sqrt{y^3}*\sqrt{z^9}

=\sqrt{64*2}*\sqrt{x^{4*2}}*\sqrt{y^{2+1}}*\sqrt{z^{8+1}}\\=8\sqrt{2}*\sqrt{x^{4*2}}*\sqrt{y^2*y}*\sqrt{z^{8}*z}}

=8\sqrt{2}*x^4*y \sqrt{y}*z^4\sqrt{z}\\=8*x^4*z^4*\sqrt{2}*\sqrt{y}*\sqrt{z}\\=8x^4z^4\sqrt{2yz}

Kenya plans to make a down payment plus monthly payments in order to buy a motorcycle. At one dealer
m_a_m_a [10]

Answer:

After 20 months the total amount paid would be same for both

The amount is $5500

Step-by-step explanation:

* Lets explain how to solve the problem

- Kenya plans to make a down payment plus monthly payments in

 order to buy a motorcycle

- There are two dealer

# 1st : she would pay $2,500 down and $150 each month

# 2nd : she would pay $3,000 down and $125  each month

- We need to know after how many months the total amount paid

 would be the same for both dealers

* Lets change the two dealer to two equations

- Let f(x) represents the total amount of the motorcycle in x months

∴ f(x) = 2500 + 150 x ⇒ 1st dealer

∴ f(x) = 3000 + 125 x ⇒ 2nd dealer

- Equate the two equations

∴ 2500 + 150 x = 3000 + 125 x

- Subtract 125 x from both sides and 2500 from both sides

∴ 150 x - 125 x = 3000 - 2500

∴ 25 x = 500

- Divide both sides by 25

∴ x = 20

* After 20 months the total amount paid would be same for both

- To find the amount substitute the value of x in one of the

  two equation

∵ f(x) = 2500 + 150 x

∵ x = 20

∴ f(x) = 2500 + 150 (20)

∴ f(x) = 2500 + 3000

∴ f(x) = 5500

∵ f(x) represents the total amount of the motorcycle

* The amount is $5500

Find the solution(s) to 2x^2-7x+3=0 check all that apply
jek_recluse [69]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

2x^2-7x+3=0

Using mid term break method

2x^2-6x-x+3=0

2x(x-3)-1(x-3)=0. took common

(2x-1)(x-3)=0

So Either,

2x-1=0 OR x-3=0

X=1/2 OR x-3=0
