Interphase stages:(G0, G1, S and G2)
G0: the resting of the cell
G1: The organelles form and makes proteins
S: during the S stage, a cell grows and copies its DNA
G2: during the G2 stage another period of growth and final preparation for mitosis.
Mitotic phase: Mitosis
(a good way to remember the 4 phases of mitosis is PMAT)
1. Prophase: In the nucleus, chromosomes condense and become visible. In the cytoplasm, the spindle fibers form.
2. Metaphase: The copied chromosomes align in the middle of the cell.
3. Anaphase: The chromosomes separate into two genetically identical groups and move to opposite ends of the spindle.
4. Telophase: Nuclear membranes form around each of the two sets of chromosomes, the chromosomes begin to spread out the spindle begins to breakdown.
Last is Cytokinesis: Division of a cell's cytoplasm after telophase.

From this process, complexity and uncertainty gradually give way to a deeper understanding of the problem and the cost-effectiveness of the available options. Regarding the case presented in the question above, we can say that Professor Thompson, in the phase called gathering information, in the decision making process.
The phase called gathering information is about understanding the situation, gathering as much information about the problem as possible. This phase is directed to the causes of a problem or to the justifications of a position in the problem. One tip to use this phase is to use mind maps to associate the description of the problem and the data obtained about it.
