Answer:

x= -4, y=-3

Step-by-step explanation:

solving the two equations simultaneously you'll get x to be-4 and y to be -3

x+ 5y= -19

3x-y=-9

multiplying the second equation by5

15x-5y=-45

adding eqn 1 and eqn 3

16x= -64

x= -4

substituting into eqn 2

3(-4)-y= -9

-y= -9+12

-y= 3

y=-3

The area of a rectangle gets reduced by 9 sq. units,if its length is reduced by 5 units and Breadth is increased by 3 units.If w
Scilla [17]

Let the length and breadth of the rectangle be x and y.

Area of rectangle is A = xy

Therefore, the new length will be = x-5

Therefore, the new breadth will be = y + 3

So new area will be xy-9

Now the new relation will be (x+3)(y+2)=xy+67

.

Cross – multiplication method–

\dfrac{x}{{{b_1}{c_2} - {b_2}{c_1}}} =\dfrac{y}{{{a_2}{c_1} - {c_2}{a_1}}} = \dfrac{1}{{{a_1}{b_2} - {a_2}{b_1}}} || x = \dfrac{{{b_1}{c_2} - {b_2}{c_1}}}{{{a_1} {b_2} - {a_2}{b_1}}} y = \dfrac{{{a_2}{c_1} - (c_2}{a_1}}}{{{a_1}{b_2}-{a_2}{b_1}}}\\

\Rightarrow \dfrac{x}{{305 - ( - 18)}} =\dfrac{y}{{ - 12 - ( - 183)}} = \dfrac{1}{{9 - 10)}}\\\

\Rightarrow \dfrac{x}{{323}} = \dfrac{y}{{171}} = \dfrac{1}{{19}} \\\Rightarrow x = 17, y = 9 \\

Therefore, the length is 17 and breadth is 9.

When rounded to the nearest 100 I am the smallest number that becomes 5000
SIZIF [17.4K]

Answer:

4950

Step-by-step explanation:

The smallest number when rounded to the nearest 100 that becomes 5000 should be between the range of 4950 and 4999.

To the round any figure to the nearest hundred, the \bold{tens digit} of the number should be considered. If the number ranges from 1 to 49, it should be rounded to previous hundred, but if the number is between the range of 50 to 99, it should be rounded to the next 100.

Therefore the smallest number when rounded to the nearest 100 that becomes 5000 is 4950
