to get the equation of any straight line, we simply need two points off of it, hmmm let's use (0 , 10) and (8 , 30) from the table

(\stackrel{x_1}{0}~,~\stackrel{y_1}{10})\qquad (\stackrel{x_2}{8}~,~\stackrel{y_2}{30}) ~\hfill \stackrel{slope}{m}\implies \cfrac{\stackrel{rise} {\stackrel{y_2}{30}-\stackrel{y1}{10}}}{\underset{run} {\underset{x_2}{8}-\underset{x_1}{0}}}\implies \cfrac{20}{8}\implies \cfrac{5}{2}

\begin{array}{|c|ll} \cline{1-1} \textit{point-slope form}\\ \cline{1-1} \\ y-y_1=m(x-x_1) \\\\ \cline{1-1} \end{array}\implies y-\stackrel{y_1}{10}=\stackrel{m}{\cfrac{5}{2}}(x-\stackrel{x_1}{0}) \\\\\\ y-10=\cfrac{5}{2}x\implies y=\cfrac{5}{2}x+10

If the line joining the points (2,y) and (4,6) has the slope -3/2 find the value of y
Yanka [14]

Answer: y=9

Step-by-step explanation:

slope=\frac{y_{2} -y_{1} }{x_{2} -x_{1} }

\frac{-3}{2} =\frac{6-y}{4-2}

-6=2(6-y)

-6=12-2y

2y=18

y=9

By what factor does the area change if one diagonal is doubled? Explain.
melisa1 [442]

The area of deltoid is defined by formula:

A=\dfrac{e\cdot f}{2}

Where e and f are diagonals.

If you were to double the size of either one. Let's say f. You would result with:

A=\dfrac{e\cdot2f}{2}=e\cdot f

Which means if either of diagonals double in length the area of deltoid will be twice as big as it was before.

Hope this helps.

What is the volume of a triangular pyramid if the base area is 125 square feet and the height is 15 feet
joja [24]

Answer:

625 cubic feet

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data

Base area= 125 square feet

Height = 15feet

The expression for the volume of a pyramid is given as

V= a^2*h/3

but a^2= 125 square feet

V= 125*15/3

V= 1875/3

V=625 cubic feet
