The given numbers (can be taken as) the length of the three sides of a

(right) triangle.

Correct response:

  • 13² = 5² + 12², therefore,  5, 12, and 13 are a Pythagorean triple
  • The acute angles are; θ₁ ≈ 67.38°, and θ₂ ≈ 22.62°

<h3>Method of analysis to verify a Pythagorean triple</h3>

A Pythagorean triple are three positive integers, <em>a</em>, <em>b</em>, and <em>c</em> that are

related as follows;

c² = a² + b²

Therefore;

c = \mathbf{\sqrt{a^2 + b^2}}

Where;

a = 5, b = 12, we have;

\mathbf{\sqrt{5^2 + 12^2} } = 13 = c

Therefore;

  • <u>The three numbers form a</u><u> </u><u>Pythagorean triple</u>, the hypotenuse side (longest side = c = 13)

The acute angles are found as follows;

From trigonometric ratio, we have;

An \ tangent \ of \ acute \ angle \ \theta_1, \ \tan(\theta_1) = \dfrac{12}{5} = \mathbf{ 2.4}

Which gives;

  • An acute angle of the right triangle, θ₁ = arctan(2.4) ≈ <u>67.38°</u>

The acute angles of a right triangle are complimentary.

Therefore;

  • The other acute angle is therefore, θ₂ ≈ 90° - 67.38° = <u>22.62°</u>

A triangle with lengths 5, 12, and 13 is a Pythagorean triple

The approximate acute angles are 22.6° and 67.4°

Pythagorean triple

Pythagorean triple consist of positive number(a, b, c) such that it obeys the rule:

  • c² = a² + b²

A triangle whose sides form a Pythagorean triple is called a right angle triangle.

The longest side is the hypotenuse side.

Therefore,

  • 5² + 12²
  • 25 + 144 = 169
  • √169  = 13

Therefore,

5² + 12² = 13²

This means the triangle is a Pythagorean triple.

<h3>Acute angles</h3>

Acute angles are angles that are less than 90 degrees. This means the other two angles are acute angle.

Therefore, let's find them

  • tan ∅ = opposite / adjacent = tan ∅ = 5 / 12 = ∅ = 22.6198649155 = 22.6°
  • 180 - 22.6 - 90 = 67.4°

Ahmad just bought a used sailboat with two sails that need replacing. How much sail fabric will Ahmad need if he replaces sail A
ValentinkaMS [17]

Answer:

sail a = 81ft²

sail b base = 12ft

Step-by-step explanation:

question 5:

the measurements for sail A are 18ft(height) and 9ft (base)

the formula to find the the area of a triangle is (b · h) 1/2

(9 · 18) 1/2 = (162) 1/2 = 81

so ahmad will need 81ft² of fabric for sail a

question 6:

we know that the formula to find the area of a triangle is  (b · h) 1/2 = a, since we know the height and the area of the triangle we plug them into the equation to find the measurement of the base.

(b · 18) 1/2 = 108

\frac{(b . 18) 1/2}{1/2} = 108/ 1/2

(b · 18) = 216

18b  = 216

18b/18 = 216/18

b= 12

check your work:

(12 · 18) 1/2 = 108

(216) 1/2 = 108

108 = 108  true!

the base measurement for sail b is 12ft

hope this helps and have a great day!!

Find the midpoint of the segment with the given endpoints.
andrew-mc [135]
To solve for the midpoint of the segment we use the equation that is given as:

(x1 + x2 / 2) , (y1 + y2 / 2)

For the points given,

(x1 + x2 / 2) , (y1 + y2 / 2)
(3+ 2 / 2) , (-5 + 9 / 2)
(5/2 , 2) or (2.5 , 2)

Hope this answers the question. Have a nice day. Feel free to ask more questions.

HAVE TO EVALUATE SHOW WORK !!!!!<br><br> 2ny + x
Ivan

Answer:

9

Step-by-step explanation:

2ny + x

Start with n and y

n= 3/4

y = 6

2*n*y = 2* 3/4 * 6          2 * 6 = 12

12 * 3/4 = 36 / 4 = 9

There are many ways to do this. I have chosen one that does not require cancellation.
