The 9/11 is actually a date of 11 September 2001 .

There is a incident behind 9/11 .

  • ☆ In America the convention is to write the month first , followed by the date ; hence the short form '9/11 ' .

Explanation:

  • On 11 September 2001 , nineteen hijackers hailing from a number of Arab countries took control of four American commercial aircraft shortly after takeoff and flew them into important buildings in the US .
  • One airliner each crashed into the north and south Towers of the world Trade centre in New York .
  • A third aircraft crashed into the Pentagon building in Airlington, Vírginia, where the US defence Department is headquartered
  • The fourth aircraft , presumably bound for the Capitol building of the US Congress came down in a field in Pennsylvania.

The attacks have come to be known as " 9/11 " .

The attacks killed nearly three thousand persons. In terms of their shocking effect on America , they have been compared to the British burning of Washington, DC in 1814 and Japanese attack on pearl Harbour in 1941 .

  • However, in terms of loss of life , 9/11 was the most severe attack on US soil since tge founding of the country in 1776.

Where did the british empire expand to and why did they choose these places?
lutik1710 [3]

Answer:

The British Empire was composed of the dominions, colonies, protectorates, mandates, and other territories ruled or administered by the United Kingdom and its predecessor states. It began with the overseas possessions and trading posts established by England between the late 16th and early 18th centuries. At its height it was the largest empire in history and, for over a century, was the foremost global power.[1] By 1913 the British Empire held sway over 412 million people, 23 per cent of the world population at the time,[2] and by 1920 it covered 35,500,000 km2 (13,700,000 sq mi),[3] 24 percent of the Earth's total land area. As a result, its constitutional, legal, linguistic, and cultural legacy is widespread. At the peak of its power, it was described as "the empire on which the sun never sets", as the sun was always shining on at least one of its territories.[4]
