A dragon accidently swallows a sip of water, H2O(1). When the sip of water enters the dragons stomach which is at 125C (consider

ably hotter than our human stomachs) it instantly becomes and fills the volume of the dragons stomach which is 112L. How many moles of water did the dragon swallow? Since the dragon is on the ground when he drinks the water the pressure inside stomach is 1.0atm.

Answer:

0.03384\ mol

Explanation:

<u>Step 1:  Determine important information</u>

Ideal gas law → PV=nRT

At the end of the problem statement we can see that the pressure is 1.0\ atm.  V is the volume which is given as 112\ L.  n is the amount of substance which is what we are trying to find.  R is the ideal gas constant is the same for every problem which is 8.3145\ J * mol^{-1}*K^{-1}.  Finally, T is the temperature which is given as 125\ C but we have to convert to kelvins which we get 398\ K.

<u>Step 2:  Plug in the information and solve</u>

PV=nRT

(1.0\ atm)*(112\ L) = n*(8.3145\ J * mol^{-1}*K^{-1})*(398\ K)

112=n*(3,309.171)

\frac{112}{(3,309.171)}=\frac{n*(3,309.171)}{(3,309.171)}

0.03385\ mol = n

Answer: 0.03384\ mol

What is one benefit and one negative of the Gulf Stream
luda_lava [24]

This is a benefit I’m not sure if a negative

This strong current of warm water influences the climate of the east coast of Florida, keeping temperatures there warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer than the other southeastern states. Since the Gulf Stream also extends toward Europe, it warms western European countries as well.

You burn a 15g jellybean to warm 50 mL of water, which increases the temperature of the water 25 °C. How many calories of heat a
Juli2301 [7.4K]

Answer:

Q = 375\,cal

Explanation:

The quantity of heat transfered from the jellybean to the water is:

Q = \rho\cdot V \cdot c\cdot \Delta T

Q = \left(1\,\frac{g}{cm^{3}}\right)\cdot (15\,cm^{3})\cdot \left(1\,\frac{cal}{g\cdot ^{\circ} C} \right)\cdot (25\,^{\circ}C )

Q = 375\,cal

Which term is used to describe the reactant that is used up completely and controls the amount of product that can be produced d
givi [52]

Answer: Option (c) is the correct answer.

Explanation:

A limiting reagent is defined as a reagent that completely gets consumed in a chemical reaction. A limiting reagent limits the formation of products.

For example, we have given 5 mol of A and the reaction is 2A + 4B \rightarrow 2AB

Whereas when 4 mol B will react with 2 mol of A. Hence, 8 mol of B will react with 4 mol A as follows.

                        \frac{2}{4} \times 8 = 4 mol

As, the given moles of A is more than the required moles. Thus, it is considered as an excess reagent.

Hence, B is a limiting reagent because it limits the formation of products.

Thus, we can conclude that limiting reactant is the term used to describe the reactant that is used up completely and controls the amount of product that can be produced during a chemical reaction.
