Answer:

<h2>65mph.</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

This problem is divided in two parts. The first part of the travel takes 2 hours and <em>x </em>miles at a unknown speed which we are gonna call s_{1} =s. The second part takes 6 hours, because the total hours is 9, but the driver took 1 hour for lunch and gas. Also, during the second part, the driver decreased his speed in 20, so the speed for the second part is s_{2}=s-20, and the distance covered is gonna be <em>400-x </em>because we know that the total distance is 400 miles.

Next, we have to use the equation of a constant movement which involves speed, distance and time.

<h3>First part:</h3>

d_{1}=s_{1} t_{1}\\x=s(2hr)=2s

So, the distance covered during the first part is <em>2s</em>.

<h3>Second part:</h3>

d_{2}=s_{2}t_{2}   \\400-x=(s-20)6hr\\400-x=6s-120

But, we know that x=2s

Then, 400-x=6s-120\\400-2s=6s-120\\400+120=6s+2s\\520=8s\\s=\frac{520}{8} =65

Therefore, the initial speed is 65mph.

The entire trip took him 9 hours.
It took him 1 hour for lunch and gas, so he drove for 8 hours.
He drove a total of 400 miles.
He drove the first x miles at a higher speed, s, for 2 hours.
Then he drove the rest of the distance, 400 - x miles, at a lower speed, s - 20, for 6 hours.

speed = distance/time

distance = speed * time

First part of the trip:

x = s * 2

x = 2s

Second part of the trip:

400 - x = (s - 20) * 6

400 - x = 6s - 120

Substitute x = 2s in the equation just above:

400 - 2s = 6s - 120

-8s = -520

s = 65

The initial speed is 65 mph.

What is the value of x?
m_a_m_a [10]

Answer :

98°

Step by step explanation :

As we can see in figure,

∠F = 53°

∠H = 45°

So,

\:\mathsf{∠FGH\: +\: ∠GHF \:+ \:∠HFG\: = \:180°}

[Angle sum property, which states that the sum of all the angles of a triangle is 180°]

=> ∠FGH + 45° + 53° = 180°

=> ∠FGH = 180° - 98°

=> \:\bf\boxed{∠FGH\: =\:82°}

Now,

∠x + ∠FGH = 180°

[linear pair]

=> ∠x = 180° - 82°

=> \:\bf\boxed{∠x\: =\:98°}

<h2><u>Alternative Method :</u></h2>

We know that sum of two opposite interior angles is equal to the exterior angle.

So

∠x = ∠GHF + ∠HFG.

=> ∠x = 45 ° + 53°

=> \:\bf\boxed{∠x\: =\:98°}

Hope this helps!

Easy math PLEASE help show work find the volume of the cone
dezoksy [38]
So you know that the formula to find the volume of a cone is V=pi x r^2 x h/3
We know that pi is 3.14 so you plug that number in for the pi symbol. Then we know that r is the radius. Since the diameter is shown in the word problem divide 14.8/2 because the radius is half of the diameter. You should get 7.4 as your radius. Then we already know the height for h/3 which is 8.1. Now that you have all of the information given substitute the formula and you should get:
V=3.14(7.4)^2(8.1/3)
Multiply 3.14 times 7.4 to the second power in which you will get 171.3498
Then, divide 8.1 by 3 and then you should get 2.7.
Multiply 171 by 2.7 (btw I rounded 171.3498 to the nearest tenth) and your final answer should be about 464.
Hope this helps
And if I’m wrong please correct me.
