Sara works for 40 hours a week. She attends meetings for 0.28 of the time she is working. How much time does Sara spend at meeti
Roman55 [17]

Answer:

11.2 hours or 11 hours 12 minutes

Step-by-step explanation:

In this question, we are to calculate the amount of time spent by Sara in attending meetings weekly.

In the question, we are made to understand that she attends a meeting at a rate of 0.28 multiplied by the total amount of time she works.

To get the time she attends the meeting, we only need to multiply the decimal by the number of hours she works

Mathematically that would be 0.28 * 40 = 11.2 hours per week

We might take it further to get the time in the format of hours and minutes. That would be 0.2 * 60 yo convert the hours to minutes. This gives 12 minutes .

She attends meeting 11 hours 12 minutes per week

A pan of brownies is 7/10 full. Tyreese buys 2/5 of the brownies.
elixir [45]

Answer:

The answer to your question is below

Step-by-step explanation:

See the picture, please

In the first picture, we notice the initial amount of brownies (7/10), 7 brownies in a pan for 10 brownies.

After Tyreese bought 2/5   (7/10 - 2/5 = 3/10) there are 3 brownies left.

So in the picture, we notice only 3 brownies in a pan for 3 brownies.

What are the solutions to the following system of equations? y=x^2+12x+30 and 8x-y=10
Ierofanga [76]
Note that the 2nd equation can be re-written as y=8x-10.
According to the second equation, y=x^2+12x+30.
Equate these two equations to eliminate y:

8x-10 = x^2+12x+30

Group all terms together on the right side.  To do this, add -8x+10 to both sides.  Then 0 = x^2 +4x +40.  You must now solve this quadratic equation for x, if possible.  I found that this equation has NO REAL SOLUTIONS, so we must conclude that the given system of equations has NO REAL SOLUTIONS.

If you have a graphing calculator, please graph 8x-10  and  x^2+12x+30 on the same screen.  You will see two separate graphs that do NOT intersect.  This is another way in which to see / conclude that there is NO REAL SOLUTION to this system of equations.
