Let x be the percent of p asked
then
m% of n = x% of p
m/100*n = x/100*p
mn = xp
x = mn/p
3x + 2y = 12
subtract 3x from both sides
2y = -3x + 12
divide all terms by 2 so that you can have only the y on the left side
y = -3/2x + 6
And that is your answer!
