Answer:

O -2(x+y=8)

Step-by-step explanation:

If you put the problems beside each other, they look like this;

2x + 5y = 24

  x + y = 8

So you are trying to find a way to simplify the x's

Step 1;

See if there are any numbers that you could multiply to the bottom problem that would help you get rid of the x specifically.

In this case, -2 would cancel out that other 2 right? Because if you added them, they cancel each other out; 2 -2 = 0

Step 2:

if you multiply, you have to do it to the entire problem;

-2(x + y = 8)    (-2 times x, -2 times y, -2 times 8)

-2x + -2y = -16

Step 3:

Go back to your original problem and work it out;

2x + 5y = 24

-2x + -2y = -16

2x and -2x cancel each other out so now you only have;

5y = 24

-2y = -16

Step 4:

Combine like terms;

5y = 24

-2y = -16

3y = 8

Divide by 3

y = 2.6

John uses 8/6 ounces of milk for his recipe . Mya uses 4/3 ounces of milk for her recipe. who uses more milk? explain your answe
Aleks04 [339]
To compare the fractions we need to find a common denomanator.
This means we need to find a common number (to the denomanator) in each number set of times tables.
In this case we can use 6 as a common denomator.

One of out fractions is already out of 6 so we just need to convert the other one.
We can just double 4/3 to give us 8/6.

We can now compare the data, we have 8/6 and 8/6.
These fractions show that both John and Mya use the same amount of milk for their recipies, this being 8/6 or 1 1/3 as a mixed number.

For number 8 how do you factor the common factor out of the expression
kari74 [83]
You do the same as with number you take out the largest allowed amount. For example for 8 you could take out x^2 and y^2 along with the normal factors, So once you factor everything out you would be left with 27x^2y^2(y^3-3x)
