Answer:

O -2(x+y=8)

Step-by-step explanation:

If you put the problems beside each other, they look like this;

2x + 5y = 24

  x + y = 8

So you are trying to find a way to simplify the x's

Step 1;

See if there are any numbers that you could multiply to the bottom problem that would help you get rid of the x specifically.

In this case, -2 would cancel out that other 2 right? Because if you added them, they cancel each other out; 2 -2 = 0

Step 2:

if you multiply, you have to do it to the entire problem;

-2(x + y = 8)    (-2 times x, -2 times y, -2 times 8)

-2x + -2y = -16

Step 3:

Go back to your original problem and work it out;

2x + 5y = 24

-2x + -2y = -16

2x and -2x cancel each other out so now you only have;

5y = 24

-2y = -16

Step 4:

Combine like terms;

5y = 24

-2y = -16

3y = 8

Divide by 3

y = 2.6

I’m not sure what it could be?

Answer:

B

Step-by-step explanation:

If x equals 1/4 then it must be B because:

All the sections are divided into fourths so 1/4 plus 3/4 is 1.

2x+2y=8 in function form step by step please?
nasty-shy [4]
You could get two different functions out of this:

<u>2x + 2y = 8</u>

1). <u> 'y' as a function of 'x'</u>

Subtract  2x  from each side:  2y  = -2x + 8

Divide each side by  2 :         <em> y  =  -x + 4</em>

2). <u> 'x' as a function of 'y' :</u>

Subtract  2y  from each side:    2x  =  -2y + 8

Divide each side by  2 :        <em>  x  =  -y + 4</em>

Those two functions look the same, but that's just because the original
equation given in the problem was so symmetrical.  In general, they're
not the same function.

richard kitchen measures 22 feet by 16 feet. he plans on laying tile down and each tile measures 16 inches by 16 inches. how man
Yanka [14]
Convert feet into inches 194× 264= 50,688
16×16= 256
divide 50,688 by 256
the answer comes out to 158.93 tiles. So either exactly 158, or 159 tiles.

The sum of two consecutive even integers is 106. What are the integers
cestrela7 [59]

Answer:

52, 54

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the integers be x and x+2

x + x + 2 = 106

2x = 104

x = 52

therefore, the two integers are 52 and 54
