Gibbons, small Asian apes, move by brachiation, swinging below a handhold to move forward to the next handhold. A 8.6 kg gibbon

has an arm length (hand to shoulder) of 0.60 mm. We can model its motion as that of a point mass swinging at the end of a 0.60-mm-long, massless rod. At the lowest point of its swing, the gibbon is moving at 3.5 m/s.
Required:
What upward force must a branch provide to support the swinging gibbon?

The St. Louis Arch has a height of 192 m. Suppose that a stunt woman of mass 84 kg jumps off the top of the arch with an elastic
Hitman42 [59]

To solve this problem it is necessary to apply the kinematic equations of motion for speed and distance, as well as the concepts related to kinetic energy.

The change in the height of a body subject to gravity is given by

h = \frac{1}{2} gt^2 \rightarrow t = \sqrt{\frac{2h}{g}}

Where

h = Height

g =Gravity

t = time

Replacing with our values we have that the time is

t = \sqrt{\frac{2h}{g}}

t = \sqrt{\frac{2(192)}{9.8}}

t = 6.25s

From speed as a function of change between acceleration and time we have then that after 2.6 seconds the speed would be

g = \frac{v}{t} \rightarrow v = g*t

v = 9.8*2.6

v = 25.48m/s

The kinetic energy would be given by

KE = \frac{1}{2} mv^2

KE = \frac{1}{2} (84)(25.48)

KE = 1070.16J

Therefore the kinetic energy after 2.6s is 1070.16J

How does radiation transfer thermal energy from the Sun to Earth?
Svetradugi [14.3K]

Answer:

The thermal energy is carried by electromagnetic waves

Explanation:

There are three types of transfer of heat (thermal energy):

- Conduction: conduction occurs when two objects/two substances are in contact with each other. The heat is transferred from the hotter object to the colder object by the collisions between the molecules of the two mediums.

- Convection: convection occurs when a fluid is heated by an external source of heat. The part of the fluid closer to the heat source gets warmer, therefore it becomes less dense and it rises, and it is replaced by the colder part of the fluid, which is colder. Then, this part of fluid is heated as well, so it gets warmer, it rises, etc.. in a cycle.

- Radiation: radiation occurs when thermal energy is carried by electromagnetic waves. Since electromagnetic waves do not need a medium to propagate, this is the only method of heat transfer that can occur through a vacuum (so, in space as well).

Indeed, the Sun emits a lot of electromagnetic radiation, which travels through space and eventually reaches the Earth, heating it.

Calculate the pressure of water at the bottom of 6m depth well.( g= 9.8m/s square<br>
Alexeev081 [22]

Answer:

58.8NM-²

Explanation:

The pressure is the product of density,depth(height) and acceleration due to gravity

here the density of water is 1gm-³ it a constant so it not given

pressure= 6×9.8×1

pressure = 58.8NM-²
