The attraction that reaches a greater height and what it represent in terms of the context  is:

  • The slingshot reaches a greater height at  162 ft, which is the vertex of the parabola.
  • The Ferris wheel reaches a greater height at 145 ft, which is the highest point on the circle.

<h3>Height</h3>

Ferris wheel

(x – 100)2 + (y – 75)2 = 4,900

y max= 75+70

y max=145 ft

Sling shot

y = –3x² + 48x – 30

dy/dx=-6+48=0

x=48/6

x=8

Hence:

y max = –3(8)² + 48(8) – 30
y max = –3×64+48(8)-30

y max = –192+384-30

y max =162 ft

Therefore slingshot reaches a greater height at  162 ft and Ferris wheel reaches a greater height at 145 ft.

There are 3 cards lettered A, B, and C and a 6 sided die. If you draw a card and then rolled the die, what is the P(A3)?
nirvana33 [79]

Answer:

1/18.

Step-by-step explanation:

P(A) = 1/3    (as there are 3 cards with one marked A).

P(3 on the die) = 1/6 (as there are 6 sides on a die).

P(A then 3) = 1/3 * 1/6 = 1/18.

Note: the probabilities are multiplied because the 2 events are independent.

Answer:

\frac{13}{ - 5}

Step-by-step explanation:

\frac{y1 - y2}{x1 - x2}  \\  \frac{7 - ( - 6)}{ - 3 - 2}  \\  \frac{7 + 6}{ - 5}  \\  =  \frac{13}{ - 5}

Find the slope intercept form of the liner function using the points (-6,6) and (-2,4) Show all work
olga2289 [7]

y = - \frac{1}{2} x + 3

the equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y-intercept )

to calculate m use the gradient formula

m = ( y₂ - y₁ ) / (x₂ - x₁ )

with (x₁, y₁ ) = (- 6, 6 ) and (x₂, y₂ ) = (- 2, 4 )

m = \frac{4-6}{-2+6} = \frac{-2}{4} = - \frac{1}{2}

y = - \frac{1}{2} x + c is the partial equation

to find c substitute either of the 2 points into the partial equation

using (- 2, 4 ), then

4 = 1 + c ⇒ c = 4 - 1 = 3

y = - \frac{1}{2} x + 3 ← in slope-intercept form
