RESECTION generally means surgery.  The type of surgery depends on where the cancer is located in the lungs and how large it is.

It could be done via general anesthesia and thoracoscopy to have a segmental or wedge resection and possible lobectomy...or it may be more extensive and require thoracotomy with lung lobectomy (partial lung removal)  or total pneumonectomy ( one-sided total lung removal).
