What is the focus of ecosystem based management
marysya [2.9K]

ANSWER

Ecosystem-based management focuses on how individual actions affect the ecosystem services that flow from coupled socio-ecological systems in an integrated fashion, rather than considering these impacts in a piecemeal manner.

Describe maximum parsimony.
Burka [1]

Maximum Thrift is a method / philosophy that considers the shortest tree (in number of transformation steps) the best hypothesis about the phylogenetic relationship of a given set of terminals. Transformation step is the cost attributed to the change of character state in a given branch of the tree, be it the change from one nucleotide base to another, amino acids, or the color of an animal's iris. The fewer transformations, the shorter the tree, and therefore the more parsimonious.  In this method, what programs do is to investigate as many alternative topologies as possible (or all if their array has less than 25 terminals; see more details below) given their character array. Each will be measured, and the shorter (optimal) trees will be retained as the most parsimonious result.

An inhibitory stimulus has occurred. B. Chemically gated potassium channels have opened. C. Excessive potassium has diffused out
andrezito [222]

Given question is incomplete. Complete question has been attached.

Answer:

C. Excessive potassium has diffused out causing hyperpolarization.

Explanation:

The nerve action potential can be divided into following stages:

  • Stimulus is detected by the cell in resting stage.
  • Sodium channels in the membrane open from where influx of sodium ions occur which is called depolarization
  • After a while, sodium channels close and potassium channels open from where efflux of potassium ions occur which is called repolarization.
  • The membrane potential further lowers due to continous efflux of potassium ions which is called hyperpolarization.
  • After a while potassium channels close and membrane returns to its resting stage.

In the given figure, stage 4 depicts hyperpolarization because the membrane potential has dropped to the lowest point below -70mV. Hence, option C is correct.
