Answer:

a. The equation should be

4x + 3y = $11.67

8x + y = $12.89

b. The price of one can of soup and the price of one loaf of bread is $1.355 and $2.09

The calculation is as follows:

here we assume the soup be x and bread be y

So, the equations are

4x + 3y = $11.67 .........(1)

8x + y = $12.89.........(2)

Here we need to multiply by 2 in equation 1

8x + 6x = $23.34

8x + y = $12.89

5y = $10.45

y = $2.09

Now x should be

8($2.09) + y = $12.89

x = $1.355

Hope this helps :)
