In order to determine the kinetic energy of a body, it is important to ask about the mass and velocity of the body.

What is kinetic energy?

Kinetic energy is the energy a body possesses due to the motion of that body.

The equation to calculate kinetic energy of a body is given as:

KE = \frac{1}{2}mv^{2}

where

 • m is mass and
 • v is velocity

Therefore, it is important to ask what the mass of a body is and the speed at which it is moving in order to determine the kinetic energy of the body.

Examine the spectra of the four unknown substances shown below. What can you conclude?
oksian1 [2.3K]
Line spectra are obtained when individual elements are heated using a high-voltage electrical discharge. This heating causes excitation of the element and a subsequent emission of distinct lines of colored light are obtained. Each element has its own unique emission line spectrum; therefore, if any of the tested substances were the same, their spectra would match. However, this is not the case so none of the substances are the same.

If someone ways 600 newtons and the shoes have an area of 300cm squared, what pressure does he exert on the ground?
lukranit [14]
Pressure = Force / Area

Put your data in front of yourself.

Force = 600 Newtons
Area = 300 cm^2

Firstly you need to convert the area into m^2 and you do this by diving 300 with 10000.

Now you use the formula:-
Pressure = 600/ 0.03
Which comes out to be 20,000 Pa.

Hope this helps!

Gwar [14]

A proton is released from rest at the origin in a uniform electric field in the positive x direction with magnitude 850 N/C. The change in the electric potential energy of the proton-field system when the proton travels to x = 2.50m is -3.40 × 10⁻¹⁶ J (Option B)

How is the change in electric potential energy of the proton-field system calculated?

 • Work done on the proton =Negative of the change in the electric potential energy of the proton field
 • In the given case, W = -qΔV
 • -W = qΔV
 • = qEcosθ
 • Therefore, work done on the proton = -e(8.50×10^2 N/C)(2.5m)(1)
 • = -3.40×10^-^1^6 J
 • Any change in the potential energy indicates the work done by the proton.
 • Therefore the positive sign shows that the potential energy increases when the proton does the work.
 • The negative sign shows that the potential energy decreases when the proton does the work.
