ontal, what are the coordinates of point C? Diagram shows a line segment with endpoints A(2, minus 6) and B(10, 2). Point D lies on this line segment. A dashed segment extends up from point A until point C and then extends horizontally to right until point D, forming a right triangle. A. (2, -1) B. (2, -3) C. (5, -3) D. (7, -1) Reset Next

The coordinates of point C that forms the triangle is; (2, -1)

How to partition a line segment?

We are told that point D divides line segment AB in the ratio of 5:3.

The line segment division formula is;

(x, y) = (m₁x₂ + m₂x₁)/(m₁ + m₂), (m₁y₂ + m₂y₁)/(m₁ + m₂)

For this question;

x₁ = 2; y₁ = -6; x₂ = 10; y₂ = 2; m₁ = 5; m₂ = 3

Thus, (x, y) gives us;

(5*10 + 3*2)/(5 + 3), (5*2 + 3*-6)/(5 + 3)

D(x, y) = (7, -1)

Now, we need to find the coordinates of C

We will use coordinate system which means the coordinate of x will be the as x coordinate of A since, AC is vertical line

And coordinate of y will be same as y in D since CD is horizontal line. Thus, coordinate of C is; C(2,-1).

the rectangular post shown at the right measures 2w-30 by w. the poster has an area of 5400 cm^2. what is The value of w ?
borishaifa [10]

Step-by-step explanation:

w(2w - 30) = 5400

2w²- 30w = 5400

2w² - 30w - 5400 = 0

(w - 60 ) ( w + 45 ) = 0

w= 60 w= - 45

only take the positive value

therefore w = 60

Braydon is at the 10-mile Marker at the park to run. He can run at a pace of 3 miles per hour. Lauren is at the 12-mile marker a
madreJ [45]

it will take 1.33 hours for Braydon and Lauren to get to the same mile marker on the path in the park .

Step-by-step explanation:

Here we have , Braydon can run at 3 miles per hour , he's initially at 10 mile marker . Lauren is at the 12-mile marker at the park, She is walking at a pace of 1.5 miles per hour. We need to find How long will it take for Braydon and Lauren to get to the same mile marker on the path in the park .Let's find out:

Let after time t they meet each other so , Braydon can run at 3 miles per hour , he's initially at 10 mile marker . Distance traveled is given by :

⇒ 3t+10

Now , Lauren is at the 12-mile marker at the park, She is walking at a pace of 1.5 miles per hour , Distance traveled is given by :

⇒ 1.5t + 12

Equating both we get :

⇒ 3t+10=1.5t+12

⇒ 1.5t=2

⇒ t=\frac{2}{1.5}

⇒ t=1.33

Therefore , it will take 1.33 hours for Braydon and Lauren to get to the same mile marker on the path in the park .

Cubic yards of concrete will be required for 14 parking lot light pole standards
riadik2000 [5.3K]

Using conversion of units and volume of a cylinder, it is found that 23.17 cubic yards of concrete are needed, option D.

The volume of a cylinder of radius r and height h is given by:

V = \pi r^2h

In this problem:

 • We want the volume in cubic yards, thus, the units of radius and height have to be in yards.
 • 32 inches in diameter, thus 16 inches of radius. Since each inch has 0.0278 yards, this is a radius of 0.44 yards, thus r = 0.44.
 • Height of 8 feet, and since each feet has 0.33 yards, this is a height of 2.67 yards, thus h = 2.67
 • 14 poles, thus the volume is multiplied by 14.

Then:

V = 14\pi(0.44)^2(2.67) = 23.17

23.17 cubic yards of concrete are needed, option D.
