Answer:

Area: 15.53 square inches

Perimeter: 15.71 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

Area:

So the area of the rectangle is pretty easy to find and is just the width * height. In this case it's 4 * 3 which is 12. Now the area of a circle is \pi r^2. But since this is a semi circle it's half of that which is \frac{\pi r^2}{2}. The diameter of the semicircle is 3 as it sits on top of the rectangle. The radius is half of the diameter so the radius is 1.5. Now plug that into the equation and you get \frac{(3.14) (1.5)^2}{2} = 3.5325. Now add that to 12 and you get 15.5325. Round that number to the nearest hundredth and you get 15.53. So that's the area.

Perimeter:

Pi is the ratio of any circle's circumference to the diameter. Or in other words the circumference is equal to the diameter * 3.14. The diameter is 3 which you multiply by 3.14 to get the circumference of a circle. This will get you 9.42 but since it's a semicircle, the circumference is half of this value which is 4.71. The perimeter of the rectangle is just 2 times the width + 2 times the height. This is not completely the case in this shape since one of the sides of the rectangle is not a side of the two shapes joined together. Which is the side that is parallel to the side of length 3 inches. So the perimeter is going to be 2(4) + 3. This gives you 11 which you add to the 4.71 and get 15.71

Tree casts a shadow 30 feet long. A MHS student standing near the tree casts a shadow 9 feet long. The  student is 6 feet tall. What is the height of the tree? Show all work

<em><u>Answer:</u></em>

Option D

The height of tree is 20 feet tall

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

From given question,

Shadow of tree = 30 feet

Height of tree = ?

Height of student = 6 feet

Shadow of student = 9 feet

We have to find the height of tree

We can solve the sum by proportion

\frac{\text{height of tree}}{\text{shadow of tree}} = \frac{\text{height of student}}{\text{shadow of tree}}

This forms a proportion and we can solve the sum by cross multiplying

\frac{\text{height of tree}}{30} = \frac{6}{9}\\\\\text{height of tree} = 30 \times \frac{6}{9} = 30 \times \frac{2}{3}\\\\\text{ height of tree } = 10 \times 2 = 20

Thus height of tree is 20 feet tall

Shtirlitz [24]

A) Sample size of compound event = 25

B) New Sample size = 36.

What is Compound event?

A compound event is one that has more than one sample point. Simple events are less complicated than compound events. These occurrences entail the possibility of multiple occurrences. One is the probability of all possible outcomes of a compound event.

An event that consists of two or more simple events is called a compound event. Simple events are those that can only have one result, whereas complex events can have a variety of distinct results. Compound events can consist of several independent or dependent occurrences, where the result of one event has no bearing on the likelihood of the other.

Given,

Number of buttons in a container = 5

Lucas picks one button, replaces it and then picks another.

Therefore,

Sample size of the compound event

                 n = 5\times5

                 n  = 25\\

Now, one more button is added in the container and in total there are 6 buttons.

Lucas repeats the same process again and hence,

Sample size of the new compound event will be,

                  n = 6\times6

                  n = 36

Full Question is - Lucas has five buttons in a container. Each button is a different shape. There is a star, an oval, a hexagon, a circle, and a heart. He picks one button, replaces it, and then picks another button. The sample size for this compound event is  ___  Suppose one square-shaped button is added to the container. If Lucas repeats the same picking process, then the sample size would be ____

wolverine [178]

Answer:

Answer:

4.8 gigabytes

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of gigabytes of data = x

Xavier pays a flat cost of $44 per month and $3 per gigabyte. He wants to keep his bill at $58.40 per month.

The above expression above is represented by the equation:

$44 + $3 × x = $58.40

44 + 3x = 58.40

Solving for x

Subtract 44 from both sides

44 - 44 + 3x = 58.40 - 44

3x = 14.4

x = 14.4/3

x = 4.8 gigabytes
