Answer:

D. The slope is -2. The y-intercept is (0,3)

Step-by-step explanation:

You can use any two points.

Let's use the first two points: (0, 3), (2, -1)

slope = (y_2 - y_1)/(x_2 - x_1)

slope = (-1 - 3)/(2 - 0)

slope = -4/2

slope = -2

The y-intercept occurs when x = 0. For x = 0, y = 3, so the y-intercept is 3 which means the point (0, 3).

Answer: D. The slope is -2. The y-intercept is (0,3)

Brett is joining a new gym. He can join Power Plus or Heavy Hulk. At Power Plus, it will cost $34.14 per month, plus a sign-up f
Reil [10]

After 19 months, the cost will be same for both memberships.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Sign up fee at Power Plus = $22.00

Per month fee = $34.14

Let,

x be the number of months.

P(x) = 34.14x + 22

Sign up fee at Heavy Hulk = $34.50

As they have cut the cost into half.

Sign up fee = \frac{34.50}{2}=\$17.25

Per month fee = $34.39

H(x) = 34.39 + 17.25

For same cost ;

P(x) = H(x)

34.14x+22=34.39x+17.25\\22-17.25=34.39x-34.14x\\4.75= 0.25x\\0.25x=4.75\\

Dividing both sides by 0.25

\frac{0.25x}{0.25x}=\frac{4.75}{0.25}\\x=19

After 19 months, the cost will be same for both memberships.

25 POINTS. I need help on my CALC hw. help me.. please. I don't get it.
olya-2409 [2.1K]
Well, what I can make out is.

"20% of the drug present in the preceding time...", is mostly mumble jumble, in short is just saying, the patient took a pill, then before taking another pill, the previous pill isn't really gone from the body stream, is there still, 20% of it, so by the time the patient drops another pill in the following day as prescribed, she's dropping 500mg of the drug, which is 100% of the drug, but besides that, she already has 20% of the drug from the pill she took the previous time, the day before, so, from yesterday.

a)

how much of the drug is there when she takes another pill?

well, 20% of 500mg is just 100mg 0.2 * 500

so, she's dropping 500mg today, and she has in her body stream 100mg(20%) from the one she took yesterday, so her body will have then 500 + 100 milligrams of the drug.

b)

\bf Q_n=\stackrel{previous~term}{\textit{amount of the drug yesterday}}\\\\
Q_{n+1}=\stackrel{next~term}{\textit{amount of the drug today}}
\\\\\\
Q_{n+1}=Q_n+20\%~of~Q_n\implies Q_{n+1}=Q_n+0.2Q_n
\\\\\\
Q_{n+1}=1.2Q_n\impliedby \textit{now, this is fine, but this is a \underline{sum}}
\\\\\\
Q_{n+1}=2Q_n-80\%~of~Q_n\implies Q_{n+1}=2Q_n-0.8Q_n

now, the second equation there, is fine too, is just that it is a difference, but the result is the same 1.2 or 120% of the drug.

in essence the difference equation is just saying, "ok, grab two pills and then subtract 80% of one pill, that's what your body has right after taking the next pill".
