A sample of 40 observations is selected from one population with a population standard deviation of 5. The sample mean is 102. A

sample of 50 observations is selected from a second population with a population standard deviation of 6. The sample mean is 99. Conduct the following test of hypothesis using the .04 significance level.
Is this a one-tailed or a two-tailed test?

State the decision rule.

Compute the value of the test statistic.

1) This is a Two tailed Test.

2) Decision rule is; If the p-value is greater than 4% fail to reject H₀.

3) P-value = 0.00968764 and so we reject H₀

How to state the decision rule in hypothesis testing?

We are given the hypothesis as;

Null Hypothesis; H₀: m₁ = m₂

Alternative Hypothesis; H₁: m₁ ≠ m₂

1) Since the alternative hypothesis has "not equal to sign", then it is a two tailed test.

2) Since we are told to use significance level as 0.04, then we can say that the decision rule is;

If the p-value is greater than 4% fail to reject H₀.

3) Using a 2-Sample Z-Test online TI calculator gives the test statistic as;

z = 2.5868

4) From z-score calculator, p-value equals 0.00968764. This is less than 0.04 and as such the decision regarding H₀ is to reject H₀.

5) P-value = 0.00968764

A television game show has 11 doors, of which the contestant must pick 3. Behind 3 of the doors are expensive cars, and behind
bezimeni [28]

For there to be 1 car, we consider two possible outcomes:

The first door opened has a car or the second door opened has a car.

P(1 car) = 2/6 x 4/5 + 4/6 x 2/5

P(1 car) = 8/15

For there to be no car in either door

P(no car) = 4/6 x 3/5

P(no car) = 2/5

Probability of at least one car is the sum of the probability of one car and probability of two cars:

P(2 cars) = 2/6 x 1/5

= 1/15

P(1 car) + P(2 cars) = 8/15 + 1/15

= 3/5

Allie deposited $80 in a savings account earning 10% interest, compounded annually. To the nearest cent, how much will she have
77julia77 [94]

Answer: $96.8

Step-by-step explanation:

Formular for Compounding annually :

A =P ( 1 + r/n) ^nt

Where p is the Principal given as $80

r is the rate given as 10% = 10/100 = 0.1

n is the number of times the principal was compounded, given as 1

t is the time, given as 2 years:

Slot the values into the formula:

A= $80 ( 1 + 0.1/1) ^ (1 × 2)

A= $80 ( 1 + 0.1) ^2

A= $80 ( 1.1) ^2

A= $80 (1.21)

A= $80 x 1.21

A= $96.8

96.8 is already rounded to the nearest cent.

A hi school is conducting a survey to see how many students have part time jobs. Would this sample be biased or unbiased?
nalin [4]
It would be biased because one would assume that students can get to school by means other than those that put them 8n the parking lor. (Parking lot = car drivers who would be the only students sampled.). Others may ride to school by either parent or school bus who could drop them off somewhere else or possibly walk to school. The freshmen/sophomores would be excluded generally as they would be too young to drive altogether

What is 10 1/8 + 3 5/8 2 7/8 ?
Damm [24]
So first you would have to add 10 and 1/8 and 3 and 5/8 which is 4 and 3/4 then add 2 and 7/8 to 4 and 3/4 which is 7 and 5/8 so 7 5/8 is the answer.
