The ribosomal RNA is the critical component in the active site as this site is only contains ribosomal RNA.

Ribosomal RNA covers over sixty percent of total ribosome by weight and are crucial for all its Operations from binding to mRNA and choosing tRNA to catalyzing the arrangement of a peptide bond between two amino acids. Even the framework of a ribosome is determined by the three-dimensional shape of its rRNA core.

Ribosomes are composed of two subunits, the large and the small subunit, both of which consist of ribosomal RNA (rRNA) molecules and a variable number of ribosomal proteins. Significant ribosome function includes assorting amino acids to form proteins that are essential to carry out cellular functions.
