The values of x that will give the quadratic equation no real number solutions are -5 and 9

<h3>What are real roots of a quadratic equation?</h3>

Real roots of a quadratic equation are values of x, whose numbers can be represented on a number line.

Analysis:

We have -x^{2} +3x +c = 0

b^{2} - 4ac  is called the discriminant of a quadratic equation.

if b^{2} - 4ac  < 0, then the quadratic equation has no real root.

where a = -1, b = 3 c = c

(3)^{2} -4(-1)c < 0

9 + 4c < 0

4c < -9

c < -9/2

Which means values lower than -9/2 would give the solution no real root.

From, the options,  only -5 would give no real solution, since it is lower than -9/2.

Talja [164]

Answer:

32 aces

Step-by-step explanation:

4/20= x/160

Given right triangle ABC with altitude BD drawn to hypotenuse AC. If AC =16 and DC=5 what is the length of BC in the simplest ra
Nana76 [90]

The length of BC is 4 \sqrt{5}.

Solution:

Given ABC is a right triangle.

AC is the hypotenuse and BD is the altitude.

AB and BC are legs of the triangle ABC.

AC = 16 and DC = 5

<u>Leg rule of geometric mean theorem:</u>

$\frac{\text { hypotenuse }}{\text { leg }}=\frac{\text { leg }}{\text { part }}$

$\Rightarrow \frac{AC}{BC}=\frac{BC}{DC}$

$\Rightarrow \frac{16}{x}=\frac{x}{5}$

Do cross multiplication.

\Rightarrow  16\times 5 = x\times x

\Rightarrow  80= x^2

\Rightarrow  16\times 5= x^2

Taking square root on both sides.

\Rightarrow  \sqrt{16\times 5} = \sqrt{x^2}

\Rightarrow  \sqrt{4^2\times 5} = \sqrt{x^2}

square and square roots get canceled, we get

\Rightarrow  4\sqrt{ 5} = x

The length of BC is 4 \sqrt{5}.

Help show the work for <br> 5.2 divide by 0.13
aivan3 [116]

Answer:

40

Step-by-step explanation:

0.13 ⟌5.2 (We can move 0.13 over two spots)

13⟌520 (We move the decimal two spots because of previous)

We have

    ₄ ₀

13⟌520

  - 52

______

      0 0

       - 0
