What is the Money pit diagram?

The money pit diagram depicts the location of a treasure that is deep below the ground. It shows a dip pit in the city of Oakland that was explored by a team in search of a hidden treasure somewhere in the field. The money pit exists in Oakland. Once, explorers who were digging deep saw an inscription which suggested that a treasure was lying deep below.

However, no treasure was eventually found at the site after it was deeply dug. However, the hole dug in search of the treasure had been codenamed money pit until date. The money pit was found out in 1795 by a local boy named Daniel McGinnis

Hence, in this context, the author uses the Money Pit diagram to show the location of the pirate treasure.

Unattached microbes are moved from the lungs to the epiglottis by the _______ effect.
lisov135 [29]

Answer:

The unattached microbes are moved from lungs to epiglottis by the mucociliary escalator effect.

Explanation:

Mucociliary escalator, also known as mucociliary clearance, is one of the major defense mechanisms that protects the lungs. It describes the self-cleaning mechanism of the bronchi which are present in the lungs. The effectiveness of this mechanism depends on the properties of the produced mucus and on the quality and number of the cilia present in the lining of the airway.

Therefore, the unattached microbes are moved from lungs to epiglottis by the mucociliary escalator effect.

How many food calories can a human burn up in an hour by exercising at this rate? (remember that only 20.0 % of the food energy
blsea [12.9K]

Human can produce a maximum mechanical power of 1/3 hp (horse-power).

Horse power is a unit of power, it equals 746 watt (watt is also a power unit, known to be equal to a joule per second)

So:

1 ph = 746 watt = 746 J/s

1/3 ph = 248.6 J/s

we're looking for the calories, so

1 joule = 0.239006 calories

So human produce a maximum mechanical power of:

248.6 J/s = 82.88 calories per second.

We're looking for the number of calories consumed in three hours, so:

82.88 cal/s = 82.88 cal/s * 3600 s * 3 = 895200 calories = 895.2 kilocalories (food calories).

The number of food calories is 895.2 food calories

What function group within a cell functions in energy processing
AveGali [126]
What do mitochondria do? Where are they found?

They harvest chemical energy from food & carry out cellular respiration, the conversion glucose to ATP. They are found in cells of eukaryotes, except a few anaerobic protozoans. The ATP generating electron transport system is embedded in the inner membrane (cristae) and chemical reactions occur in compartments between membranes.

What are the functional categories of organelles?

Eukaryotic organelles comprise four functional categories: -manufacture (synthesis of macromolecules and transport within the cell), -breakdown (elimination and recycling of cellular materials - energy processing (conversion of energy from one form to another) -support, movement, and communication (maintenance of cell shape, anchorage, and movement of organelles, and relationships with extracellular environments) All four categories work together as an integrated team, producing the emergent properties at the cellular level.

So in smaller terms, I guess eukaryotic organelles do this.
