This company was founded in 1963 by Bruce Henderson as part of the Boston Safe Deposit and Trust Company. Henderson was hired by Arthur D. Little to create a consulting arm. Initially, the department provided advice only to bank customers, charging only $500 in the first month. Henderson hired his second advisor, Arthur P. Contas, in December 1963.
