Nursing suggestions options for the client experiencing intense pain in the active phase of labor is Patterned breathing

Patterned breathing, hypnosis, pain medication, massage, and acupressure are all alternatives to promote relaxation and pain management, depending on the client's birth plan and the preparation she and her partner have had prior to the labor experience. Effleurage is another pain management treatment, however, it is only utilized in the early stages of labor. Patterned breathing is the act of breathing at a variety of rates and depths. Some women prefer to breathe deeply, filling their abdomen with air by using their diaphragm. Other ladies prefer to breathe lightly, inhaling only enough to fill their lungs.
