While a car is running, the alternator provides current to the battery and recharges it. Reduction  reaction occurs at the anode of a lead-storage battery during this process .

The Lead-acid battery or lead-storage battery is one of the oldest types of rechargeable batteries.

Lead-storage batteries can be classified as secondary batteries. The chemical reactions that occur in secondary cells are reversible. The chemical process of extracting current from a secondary battery (forward reaction) is called discharging. The method of regenerating active material is called charging.

While recharging, the automobile battery functions like an electrolytic cell. The energy required to drive the recharging comes from an external source, such as an engine of a car. While charging reduction takes place at anode and while discharging oxidation takes place at anode.

A railroad car of mass M moving at a speed v1 collides and couples with two coupled railroad cars, each of the same mass M and m
Tatiana [17]

Answer:

Explanation:

Given

mass of each railroad is M

first railroad is moving with velocity v_1 and other two's with v_2

conserving Momentum

Mv_1+2Mv_2=3M v_f

where v_f is the final velocity of combined system

v_f=\frac{v_1+2v_2}{3}

(b)Initial Kinetic Energy

=\frac{1}{2}Mv_1^2+\frac{1}{2}2Mv_2^2

=\frac{1}{2}Mv_1^2+Mv_2^2

Final Kinetic Energy

=\frac{1}{2}3Mv_f^2=\frac{1}{6}M(v_1^2+4v_2^{2}+4v_{1}v_2)

Loss in Kinetic Energy

=\frac{1}{2}Mv_1^2+Mv_2^2-\frac{1}{6}M(v_1^2+4v_2^{2}+4v_{1}v_2)

=M(v_1-v_2^2)^2

1. What is the Formula's for Kinetic and Potential Energy?
Vilka [71]

Answer:

Total energy of the object = mgh. As it falls, its potential energy will change into kinetic energy. If v is the velocity of the object at a given instant, the kinetic energy = 1/2mv2.

A train moves with a constant velocity for 15s for 155m. How fast is the train moving?
bonufazy [111]

Answer: 10.3m/s

Explanation:

In theory and for a constant velocity the physics expression states that:

Eq(1):  distance  = velocity times time <=> d = v*t    for v=constant.

If we solve Eq (1) for the velocity (v) we obtain:

Eq(2):  velocity  = distance divided by time <=> v = d/t

Substituting the known values for t=15s and d=155m we get:

v = 155 / 15 <=> v = 10.3
