Lactic acid is a product of anaerobic respiration which accumulates in the muscles and contributes to the development of fatigue.

What is anaerobic respiration in muscles?

When a person is performing strenuous activity, they are utilizing a lot of energy. To maintain the energy supply, excess oxygen is needed.

But, sometimes, the oxygen supply becomes limited. In this case, the body adapts to lactic acid formation after the process of glycolysis.

Glycolysis results in the formation of pyruvate. During strenuous activities, the body begins anaerobic respiration which results in the formation of lactic acid.

Therefore, the accumulation of lactic acid results in fatigue and muscle cramps.

How is it possible for a horse and a donkey to create a mule? Are there any other examples of inter-species breeding in nature?
puteri [66]

Answer:

Horses have 64 chromosomes and donkeys 62, so when the two breed their mule offspring ends up with 63. Because this is an odd number, it's impossible for them to divide evenly into two. That means the mule cannot produce sperm and egg cells that carry exactly half the animal's chromosomes, as should happen.Aug 28, 2018
