Sophia Played for 18 minutes and 26 minutes last week should play the piano for 40 minutes last week use the associative propert
ZanzabumX [31]

Answer

Find out the total number of minutes they played using associative property.

To proof

Associative property of addition

This property states that

a + ( b + c) = ( a +b) +c

Where a, b, c are the any numbers.

As given

Sophia Played for 18 minutes and 26 minutes last week should play the piano for 40 minutes last week

let

a =  18 minutes , b =  26 minutes , c =  40 minutes

Total number of minutes sophia played = a + ( b + c) = ( a +b) +c

put the value of a, b,c

Total number of minutes sophia played =18+(26 +40) = (18 +26) + 40

                                                                  = 18 +66 = 44 + 40

                                                                  = 84 = 84

satisfy the associative property

Therefore the total number of minutes sophia played be 84 mintues.

Hence proved

Find the mean, standard deviation, and variance of Lucas's lunch expenditures. Round to the nearest thousandth.
olga2289 [7]
So mean is pretty easy to calculate; you just add everything up and divide by the number of things you added. Variance is pretty tricky because it involves subtracting the mean from each number, squaring that, adding all of the numbers up, and then dividing by the number of things. Then standard deviation is just the square root of the variance. Although some might enjoy spending hours figuring these out (I actually had to take a class where we only did this and stuff like it), most of us who use statistical tests do not want to waste our time on it. It is for that reason that there are websites that will compute all of these and all you have to do is put in the numbers. A pretty good one is:

http://www.calculator.net/standard-deviation-calculator.html

This one will calculate these and almost any other tests you need.

Now to your problem, if we add all of them up and divide by N (the # of things added), then we will get a mean of (μ=$5.10). From this, we can do further descriptive statistics. Standard Variance of the sample was calculated to (s^2=0.254). If we take the square root of the variance, we get a standard deviation of (s=0.504). I hope that this helps you with this problem and I hope that I helped for future problems by introducing the variance and standard deviation calculator to you!

PLEASE HELP precal!
sergij07 [2.7K]
Check the picture below

so.. .hmmm the vertex is at the origin... and we know the parabola passes through those two points... let's use either.. say hmmm 100,-50, to get the coefficient "a"

keep in mind that, the parabolic dome is vertical, thus we use the y = a(x-h)²+k  version for parabolas, which is a vertical parabola

as opposed to x = (y-k)²+h, anyway, let's find "a"

\bf y=a(x-0)^2+0\implies y=ax^2\qquad
\begin{cases}
x=100\\
y=-50
\end{cases}\implies -50=a100^2
\\\\\\
\cfrac{-50}{100^2}=a\implies -\cfrac{1}{200}=a
\\\\\\
thus\qquad \qquad y=-\cfrac{1}{200}x^2\implies \boxed{y=-\cfrac{x^2}{200}}

now.. .your choices, show.... a constant on the end.... a constant at the end, is just a vertical shift from the parent equation, the equation we've got above.. is just the parent equation, since we used the origin as the vertex, it has a vertical shift of 0, and thus no constant, but is basically, the same parabola, the one in the choices is just a shifted version, is all.
