use pythagorean theorem.

the formula is a^2 + b^2 = c^2

x^2 means squared, or power to the 2nd btw.

the slope part is called the hypotenuse, i believe that's how you spell it and the 2 other values are just called legs. a and b are legs in this situation and c is hypotenuse.

so, you want to put it in an equation.

24^2 + b^2 (unknown value) = 26^2

24 squared is 576, 26 squared is 676.

576 + b^2 = 676

now minus them

you get 100,

now you have to find the square root of 100, after that.

square root of 100 is 10.

10 is your answer. hope this helped.

If two parallel planes are cut by a third plane, then the lines of intersection are parallel.
bogdanovich [222]
True.

Let p1 and p2 be the two parallel planes. Let n1 be the normal vector of plane p1 (which is a vector perpendicular to the plane). If p2 is parallel to p1, then n1 is also a normal vector for p2.

Let p3 be the third secant plane, and n3 be its normal vector.

The direction vector of the intersection line of two planes is given by the cross products of their normal vectors (this is due to the fact that the cross product of two vectors is orthogonal two both of them, and that the direction vector of the intersection must be orthogonal two both normal vectors). So, the direction vectors of the two lines are:

v1 = n1 × n3
v2 = n1 × n3

The are equal. Hence, the lines are parallel.

If we sample from a small finite population without replacement, the binomial distribution should not be used because the events
liraira [26]

Answer:

0.0008

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula for a hypergeometric probability is

\frac{(_AC_x)(_BC_{n-x})}{_NC_n}

where N is the population, A is the number of objects of type A, B is the number of objects of type B, n is the sample size and x is the number of successes.

In this problem, N is 13.  A is 5, since there are 5 objects drawn, and B is 8, since there are 8 remaining objects.

The sample size, n, is 5, and x is 5:

\frac{(_5C_5)(_8C_0)}{_{13}C_5}\\\\=\frac{1(1)}{1287}=\frac{1}{1287}\approx 0.0008
