To keep the body in equilibrium while rising is why the person must either lean forward or slide their feet under the chair in order to stand up.

If the person doesn't lean forward or slide their feet under the chair what happens is they will not have rotational equilibrium. In order to keep the body in a state of equilibrium, it is better to either lean forward or slide their feet under the chair which is to stand up.

The activity of leaning forward will make stress on certain parts of the lumbar spine of the body. So if you have some kinds of diseases like arthritis such as spinal stenosis or spondylolisthesis, a forward lean will definitely help to relieve the pain. There exists only the need of a little bit of forwarding lean in order to relieve pressure, and it does not happen to be permanent.
