From the stoichiometry of the reaction 214.71  g of H₂S is required.

The equation of the reaction is;

Cr₂O₃(s) + 3H₂S(g) ⟶Cr₂S₃(s) + 3H₂O(l)

Number of moles of Cr₂S₃ produced :

=  421 g/200 g/mol

= 2.105 moles

From the balanced reaction equation;

3 moles of H₂S produced 1 mole of Cr₂S₃

x moles of H₂S is required to produce 2.105 moles moles of  Cr₂S₃

x = 3 moles × 2.105 moles/1 mole

= 6.315 moles of H₂S

Hence;

Mass of H₂S required

= 6.315 moles of H₂S × 34 g/mol

=214.71  g

What is the molar mass?

The molar mass of a substance is defined as the mass of 1 mol of that substance, expressed in grams per mole, and is equal to the mass of 6.022 × 10²³ atoms, molecules, or formula units of that substance.

Is molar mass and atomic mass same?

Molar mass is the mass of the one mole of the compound whereas atomic mass is the mass of the individual unit of the compound. Basically, molar mass is the mass of an average of many elements of the compound and atomic mass is the mass of the atom.

Calculate the standard enthalpy change for the reaction at 25 ∘C. Standard enthalpy of formation values can be found in this lis
weqwewe [10]

Answer:

\Delta H_{rxn}=-2043.999kJ

Explanation:

\Delta H_{rxn}^{0}=\sum [n_{i}\times \Delta H_{f}^{0}(product)_{i}]-\sum [n_{j}\times \Delta H_{f}^{0}(reactant_{j})]

Where n_{i} and n_{j} are number of moles of product and reactant respectively (equal to their stoichiometric coefficient).

\Delta H_{f}^{0} is standard heat of formation and \Delta H_{rxn}^{0} is standard enthalpy change for reaction at 25^{0}\textrm{C}

So, \Delta H_{rxn}=[3mol\times \Delta H_{f}^{0}(CO_{2})_{g}]+[4mol\times \Delta H_{f}^{0}(H_{2}O)_{g}]-[1mol\times \Delta H_{f}^{0}(C_{3}H_{8})_{g}]-[5mol\times \Delta H_{f}^{0}(O_{2})_{g}]

or, \Delta H_{rxn}=[3mol\times -393.509kJ/mol]+[4mol\times -241.818kJ/mol]-[1mol\times -103.8kJ/mol]-[5mol\times 0kJ/mol]

or, \Delta H_{rxn}=-2043.999kJ

Explain why it was important for scientists to have a standard system of naming compounds and other chemical procedures.
Minchanka [31]

It is important for scientists to have a standard system of naming compounds and other chemical procedures to avoid ambiguity in the nomenclature of chemical compounds and procedures.

Chemicals may be referred to by various names among various scientists in different places. These different names creates confusion when scientists present their discoveries to other scientists outside their locality.

Therefore, it is imperative that a unified and standard system of nomenclature should be devised so that all scientists can have the same name for compounds. This reduces ambiguity associated with the nomenclature of chemical substances and procedure.
