We could obtain the number of years that it would take to decay completely from the number of half lives that are possible for the sample.

What is the half life?

The half life of carbon-14 is the time that it takes for only half of the number of the radioactive atoms to remain. We know that carbon 14 is present in all the living things and its level only begins tp diminish in an organism when the organism dies.

Thus, given that the half life of carbon-14 is 5730 years, we could obtain the number of years that it would take to decay completely from the number of half lives that are possible for the sample.

Loess helps to form very fertile soil. Please select the best answer from the choices provided T F
Feliz [49]

The given statement is true.

A classic, predominantly silt-sized sediment, which is produced due to the gathering of wind-blown dust is known as loess. About 10 percent of the land region of the Earth is covered by loess or identical sediments. The loess seems to form into very rich soils. Under suitable climatic circumstances, it is one of the most agricultural productive terrains around the globe.

The soils formed by loess seems to be extremely drained. It is considered that the fertility of the loess soils is mainly because of porosity and cation exchange capacity.

How do tidal bulges form?
Troyanec [42]

Answer: The pull of the moon's gravity on Earth's water causes tidal bulges to form on the side closest to the moon and farthest from the moon. In the place where there are tidal bulges, high tide occurs along coastline.

An ideal gas originally at 0.85 atm and 66°C was allowed to expand until its final volume, pressure and temperature were 94.0mL,
xeze [42]

Answer: The original volume in liters was 0.0707L

Explanation:

Combined gas law is the combination of Boyle's law, Charles's law and Gay-Lussac's law.

The combined gas equation is,

\frac{P_1V_1}{T_1}=\frac{P_2V_2}{T_2}

where,

P_1 = initial pressure of gas = 0.85 atm

P_2 = final pressure of gas = 456 mm Hg = 0.60 atm (760mmHg=1atm)

V_1 = initial volume of gas = ?

V_2 = final volume of gas = 94.0 ml

T_1 = initial temperature of gas = 66^oC=273+66=339K

T_2 = final temperature of gas = 113^oF=318K (32^0F=273K)

Now put all the given values in the above equation, we get:

\frac{0.85\times V_1}{339}=\frac{0.60\times 94.0}{318}

V_1=70.7ml=0.0707L (1L=1000ml)

Thus the original volume in liters was 0.0707L

One statement of the first law of thermodynamics is that
Phantasy [73]
The First Law of Thermodynamics states that heat is a form of energy, and thermodynamic processes are therefore subject to the principle of conservation of energy. This means that heat energy cannot be created or destroyed.
