Zinc acetate is a basic salt.

Because zinc acetate is water soluble, it will entirely separate into its ions. As a result, Zn(C2H3O2)2 is regarded as a strong electrolyte.

Salts, basic, such as ZINC ACETATE, are generally soluble in water. The resulting solutions contain moderate concentrations of hydroxide ions and have pH's greater than 7.0. They react as bases to neutralize acids. These neutralizations generate heat, but less or far less than is generated by neutralization of the bases in reactivity group 10 (Bases) and the neutralization of amines. They usually do not react as either oxidizing agents or reducing agents but such behavior is not impossible.

ZnO + 2(CH3COOH) ----> Zn(C2H3O2)2

Electrolytes will conduct electricity when they are dissolved in water. Strong electrolyte Zn(C2H3O2)2 totally dissociates into its ions in water, causing the solution to conduct electricity.

Where is zinc acetate used ?

Some medications, such as lozenges for the treatment of the common cold, have zinc acetate as a component. Zinc acetate is a food supplement as well. It is taken as an oral daily supplement to prevent the body from absorbing copper as part of the management of Wilson's disease. Zinc acetate is also offered as a topical astringent in the form of an ointment, a lotion, or in combination with an antibiotic like erythromycin. Topical anti-itch ointments are frequently offered with it.

Answer:

 • 75.5 g O₂ (g) can be produced from 42.6 g of H₂O (g)

Explanation:

1) Balanced chemical equation (given):

 • 2H₂O(g) → 2H₂(g) + O₂(g)

2) Mole ratios:

 • 2 moles H₂O(g) : 2 moles H₂(g) : 2 moles O₂(g)

3) Calculate the number of moles of reactant (H₂0):

 • number of moles = mass in grams / molar mass

 • molar mass of water: 18.015 g/mol

 • mass in grams of water: 42.6 g

 • number of moles = 42.6 g / 18.05 g/mol = 2.36 moles H₂O

4) Set a proportion using the mole ratio O₂ to H₂O and the actual number of moles of H₂O:

 • 2 moles O₂ / 2 moles H₂O = x / 2.36 moles H₂O

 • x = 2.36 moles O₂

5) Convert 2.36 moles O₂ to grams:

 • mass in grams = number of moles × molar mass

 • mass = 2.36 moles × 32.00 g/mol = 75.5 g O₂

The following mechanism has been proposed for the conversion of tert-butyl bromide to tert-butyl alcohol in aqueous solution: st
Gelneren [198K]

Answer:

See explanation

Explanation:

The first step in this reaction is a unimolecular reaction. It involves the formation of the carbocation. This is so because tertiary alkyl halides only undergo substitution by SN1 mechanism due to sterric crowding.

The second step in the reaction is bi molecular. In this step, the carbocation now combines with the OH^- to yield the alcohol.

Net equation of the reaction is;

(CH3)3CBr + OH^- -------> (CH3)3COH + Br^-

The intermediate here is the carbocation, (CH3)3C^+

An element with the valence electron configuration 4s1 would form a monatomic ion with a charge of_______ . In order to form thi
qwelly [4]

Answer:

+1, lose, 1, 4s, 4s and 3d

Explanation:

An element with the valence electron configuration 4s¹ would form a monatomic ion with a charge of +1. In order to form this ion, the element will lose 1 electron from the 4s subshell.

The corresponding oxidation reaction is:

K ⇒ K¹⁺ + 1 e⁻

[Ar] 4s¹ ⇒ [Ar]

If an element with the valence configuration 4s² 3d⁶ loses 3 electrons, these electrons would be removed from the 4s and 3d subshell(s).

The corresponding oxidation reaction is:

Fe ⇒ Fe³⁺ + 3 e⁻

[Ar] 4s² 3d⁶ ⇒ [Ar] 4s⁰ 3d⁵

PLZZZ HELLPP ASAPP!
WINSTONCH [101]

Answer:

If gas is cooled the particles will then stop moving about really fast and start to form a liquid. This is called condensation.. (i think) and it happens at the same amount of temperature as or when boiling. Evaporation is dependent on individual particles gaining enough energy to escape the surface of the liquid and become gas particles.
