Every organism has a unique ecosystem in which it lives. This ecosystem is its natural habitat. This is where the basic needs of

the organism to survive are met: food, water, shelter and a place to breed. All organisms need to adapt to their habitat to be able to survive. Animals and plants with adaptations that make them better suited for the environment will survive and reproduce better than those less suited for the environment. What adaptations are beneficial in the desert ecosystem? Select ALL that apply.

Adaptations which are beneficial in the desert ecosystem include

  • Absence of sweat glands
  • Thorns and thin, spiky or glossy leaves

<h3>What is a Desert ecosystem?</h3>

This ecosystem is characterized by its very hot temperature and has sparse vegetation. Organisms present usually have different types of adaptations which helps prevent water loss.

This is because water loss will lead to dehydration and death due to little or no water present in the area.

In animals there is a lack of sweat gland to conserve water while in plants their leaves are thin and have spikes for the same purpose thereby making it the most appropriate adaptation choices.

a stone is thrown horizonttaly from a cliff of a hill with an initial velocity of 30m/s it hits the ground at a horizontal dista
ELEN [110]

Answer:

a) Time = 2.67 s

b) Height = 35.0 m

Explanation:

a) The time of flight can be found using the following equation:

x_{f} = x_{0} + v_{0_{x}}t + \frac{1}{2}at^{2}   (1)

Where:

x_{f}: is the final position in the horizontal direction = 80 m

x_{0}: is the initial position in the horizontal direction = 0

v_{0_{x}}: is the initial velocity in the horizontal direction = 30 m/s

a: is the acceleration in the horizontal direction = 0 (the stone is only accelerated by gravity)

t: is the time =?

By entering the above values into equation (1) and solving for "t", we can find the time of flight of the stone:

t = \frac{x_{f}}{v_{0}} = \frac{80 m}{30 m/s} = 2.67 s

b) The height of the hill is given by:

y_{f} = y_{0} + v_{0_{y}}t - \frac{1}{2}gt^{2}

Where:

y_{f}: is the final position in the vertical direction = 0

y_{0}: is the initial position in the vertical direction =?

v_{0_{y}}: is the initial velocity in the vertical direction =0 (the stone is thrown horizontally)

g: is the acceleration due to gravity = 9.81 m/s²

Hence, the height of the hill is:

y_{0} = \frac{1}{2}gt^{2} = \frac{1}{2}9.81 m/s^{2}*(2.67 s)^{2} = 35.0 m

I hope it helps you!

M1V1 + M2V2 = M1V1' + M2V2'

where:

M1 is the mass of the large marble = 0.05 kg

V1 is the initial velocity of the large marble = 0.6 m/sec

M2 is the mass of the small marble = 0.03 kg

V2 is the initial velocity of the small marble = 0 m/sec (marble is at rest)

V1' is the final velocity of the large marble = -0.2 m/sec

V2' is the final velocity of the small marble that we want to calculate

Substitute with the givens in the above equation to get V2' as follows:

M1V1 + M2V2 = M1V1' + M2V2'

(0.05)(0.6) + (0.03)(0) = (0.05)(-0.2) + 0.03V2'

0.03 = -0.01 + 0.03V2'

0.03V2' = 0.03+0.01 = 0.04

V2' = 0.04/0.03

V2' = 1.334 m/sec

A 7300 N elevator is to be given an acceleration of 0.150g by connecting it to a cable of negligible weight wrapped around a tur
Firlakuza [10]

Answer:

α =18.75  rad/s²

Explanation:

Given that

Acceleration a = 0.15 g

We know that   g =10 m/s²

a= 0.15 x 10 = 1.5  m/s²

d= 16 cm

Radius r= 8 cm

Lets take angular acceleration =α rad/s²

As we know that

a= α r

Now by putting the values

1.5 = α  x 0.08

α =18.75  rad/s²
