Alkali metals have one valence electron in S orbital . hence , this electron can be donate easily . thus all the alkali metals acts as reducing agent in general chemical reactions .

What are alkali metals ?

Alkali metals are the elements of group 1 in the periodic table .

It has a strong tendency to donate their valence electron in the last shell to form ionic bond .

They have least nuclear charge in their period .

Nuclear charge decreases and atomic radius increases down the group .

To prevent oxidation they are mostly stored in a oil containing jar .

The density of this group metal is very low .

General electronic configuration is ns1 .

They are good conductor of heat and electricity .

When these metals react with water produce a alkaline solution and release hydrogen gas .

Group 1 elements includes lithium , sodium , potassium , rubidium , Caesium .

How many moles is 1.50x10^23 molecules of NH3?
S_A_V [24]

The number of moles that are 1.50 x10^23 molecules of NH3 are

=0.249 moles

        calculation

The number of moles is calculated using Avogadro's law constant

that is According to Avogadro's law

                         1 moles of a substance = 6.02 x10^23 molecules

                                    ? moles = 1.50 x10^23 molecules

by cross multiplication

= [( 1.50 x 10^23 molecules x 1 moles) / (6.02 x10^23)] = 0.249 moles

Why does Halogenation increase the
reactivity of alkanes?
soldi70 [24.7K]

Answer: The chlorine radical is the most reactive of the among the given halogen molecules and it reacts easily with alkanes. In contrast, the iodine radical is the least reactive of the halogen radicals. In fact, it is so unreactive that it is unable to abstract a hydrogen atom from an alkane.
