The explanation for the product of two negative numbers is always a positive number is; explained below

<h3>What is the product of two negative numbers?</h3>

Think of a positive number as something that you get as a gift from me and a negative number as something that you give away to me.

So, 5 means you get 5 chocolates from me and -5 means you give away 5 chocolates to me. Now when you say -5 + -5 + -5 + -5 + -5, what this means is, you are giving away 5 chocolates 5 times to me, so basically you have given away 25 chocolates, which means I have 25 chocolates and you have -25.

Now, -5 * -5 means, you give away 5 chocolates, for -5 times to me. But the second number is -5, so the receiver, that is me, is giving it back to you. Thus indirectly, you gave away 5 chocolates to yourself 5 times. Thus you have 25 candies.

How can one sixthx − 5 = one fifthx + 2 be set up as a system of equations?
s2008m [1.1K]
For problems like these, we can set both sides of the equation equal to y. This is because both sides of the equation are equal to each other. If we were to take the left side of the equation and set it equal to y, the right side would also be equal to y. Similarly, if we were to set the right side of the equation equal to y, the left side of the equation would also be equal to y. Setting both equations equal to y will produce two equations which can be used in a system of equations.

Thus, our answer is:
y = (1/6)x - 5
y = (1/5)x + 2

25 pts to who ever can help with this question:
pentagon [3]

Answer:

A. 5s+2

B. 8s+8

C. 75

D. 27

Step-by-step explanation:

Is difficult to read the exact expressions. If a mistake is present then fix the number and use the same method.

A. The perimeter of the square is all 4 equal sides added together. The length of a side is \frac{5s+2}{4}. Since there are four sides then:

P= \frac{5s+2}{4}+\frac{5s+2}{4}+\frac{5s+2}{4}+\frac{5s+2}{4} = 5s+2

Adding 1/4+1/4+1/4+1/4=1. This applies here leaving 5s+2 as the answer.

B. The perimeter of the rectangle is all four sides added together. A rectangle has two pairs of equal side so P = 2l+2w.

P = 2(s+9) + 2(3s-5)\\P = 2s+18 +6s-10\\P=8s+8

C. If s=5 then the sum of the two perimeters is:

5s+2+8s+8

5(5)+2+8(5)+8

25+2+40+8

75

D. Subtract the two perimeters by computing s=7:

8s+8 -(5s+2)

8s+8-5s-2

8(7)+8-5(7)-2

56+8-35-2

64-35-2

29-2
