Switch on your light source.make sure it is shining onto wall.hold your largest plastic shopping bag square between the light so

urce and the wall 1. what do you observe .now do the same with the second plastic shopping bag square 2. what do you observe .now do the same with the third plastic shopping bag square 3. what do you observe 4. what differences do you observe between the shadow of the three shapes

In the exercise of placing a plastic shopping bag in front the light the observations are;

1. A shadow of the bag is cast on the wall

2. A much smaller shadow is displayed on the wall

3. A small shadow is formed on the wall that is comparatively smaller compared to the ratio of the corresponding sides of the bags

How does the size of the shadow relate to the size of the bags?

1. What will be observed when the largest shopping bag is placed between the light and the wall is the shadow of the bag on the wall

2. what will be observed when the second plastic shopping bag which is smaller than the largest shopping bag is placed between the light and the wall is the shadow cast by the bag on the wall which will be smaller than the shadow casted by the largest shopping bag

3. Given that the third plastic shopping bag square is smaller than the other two bags, the shadow cast by it when it is in front of the light will be smaller than the shadow cast by the other two bags

4. the observed difference between the shadows of the three bags is that the shadow are progressively larger as the size of the shopping bag increases.

  • This is so because the size of the plastic bag and the size of the shadow cast on the wall ars similar shapes, and the dimensions of the image can be obtained by multiplying the lengths of the bag by a scale factor and therefore the ratio of the area of the image to the area of the bag is the square of the ratio of the length of the shadow to the corresponding side length of the plastic bag

a wheel with a radius of 45.0 cm rolls without slipping along a horizontal floor (fig. 3-37). at time t 1 the dot p painted on
Whitepunk [10]

The magnitude is 167.6cm and the angle (relative to the floor) of the displacement of p is 32.5 degree.

What is displacement ?

A displacement is a vector in geometry and mechanics that has a length equal to the shortest distance between a point P's initial and final positions. It calculates the length and angle of the net motion, or total motion, in a straight line from the starting point to the destination of the point trajectory. The translation that links the starting point and the ending point can be used to spot a displacement.

A point's ultimate location in relation to its original position, or a displacement, can also be defined as a relative position. The instantaneous velocity of an object is the rate at which the displacement changes as a function of time when studying motions of objects throughout time.

Explanation:

a)

height = 2*r =2*45 cm = 90 cm

y = 1/2 * circumference

   =1/2 * 2*pi*r

   = pi*r

  = pi*45

  = 141.4 cm

displacement  =sqrt ( height^2 + y^2)

   = sqrt (90^2 + 141.4^2)

   = 167.6 cm

Answer: 167.6 cm

b)

angle ,x = atan (height/y)

               = atan (90/141.4)

                = 32.5 degree

Answer: 32.5 degree
