Please help me The difference of two numbers is 9. If the larger number is one more than twice the smaller number, find the lage
Helen [10]

Answer:

17

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the larger number be represented by x

Let the smaller number be represented by y

from the question, the next equations can be gotten :

x - y = 9  equation 1

x = 1 + 2y equation 2

Substitute for x in equation 1

1 + 2y - y = 9

1 + y = 9

Collect like terms

y = 9 - 1

y = 8

Substitute for y in equation 1 and solve for x (the larger number)

x - 8 = 9

x = 9 + 8

x = 17

How would you write y=2/3x+1/3 in point slope form??
gladu [14]

Answer:

y - 1 = 2/3(x - 1).

Step-by-step explanation:

Point slope form is y - y1 = m(x - x1) where m = the slope and (x1, y1) is a point on the line.

y = 2/3x + 1/3   which gives the slope m = 2/3.

We can now find a point on the line by putting x = 1 say then find y:

y  = 2/3(1) + 1/3  =  2/3 + 1/3 = 1 so  the point is (1, 1).

(x1, y1) = (1, 1)

So the answer is ;

y - 1 = 2/3(x - 1).

Please help!! I need the answer to the question in the picture!!!!
zloy xaker [14]

Answer:

\large\boxed{D.\ x=-2(y+3)^2-1}

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of a horizontal parabola in the standard form:

x=a(y-k)^2+h

(h, k) - vertex

if a > 0, then open right

if a < 0, then open left

We have the vertrex (-1, -3) and the parabola is open left (a < 0).

Therefore the equation of a given parabola could be:

x=-2(y-(-3))^2+(-1)=-2(y+3)^2-1

Pls help me! I'm confused
zepelin [54]
The question is asking you to organize the data in line plot form. to do so you must create a number line (which in this case is provided for you) and put X's above the numbers. for example lets say your given the following data :
1, 2 ,2 , 4 , 1 , 3 , 2 , 5
this is how you would graph it in line plot form

x .      x
x .      x .           x .         x .          x

_________________________________________
1 . . .   2 .          3 .         4 .          5

but in your case not al the numbers listed are on the plot so instead you do this:
x .    x
x .    x .      x .      x .        x
___________________________________
1 .              3 .                5 .
plot as if the numbers are there. ( as usual spacing is important)
