By using a wedge-shaped tool, machining is the removal of material in the form of chips. Metal plates, tubes, or solid round bars make up the material that is machined. On the other hand, metal flat sheets make up the material that goes through the fabrication process. Metal is heated in a furnace until molten before being cast. The metal is poured into a die, or mold, while it is still liquid, giving the metal the shape of the component.
