Answer:

Explanation:

Here, we want to get the reason why water has a bent shape

The main cause of this is the existence of 2 lone pairs of electrons which are on the same side of the molecule

As we can see, while there is an attarcting force at the top, there are 2 repulsive forces at the bottom

These repulsive forces move away from each other as they are only attracted to the central oxygen atom

This causes like a pull away from the center as a result of repulsive forces on both sides of the central oxygen atom

If you have 2 water molecules together, would you expect them to sit "hydrogen by hydrogen" or "hydrogen to oxygen"? Why?
kondor19780726 [428]

Answer:

"hydrogen to oxygen"

Explanation:

Hydrogen bonds are formed when hydrogen is bonded to highly electronegative element such as Chlorine, fluorine, oxygen etc.

In hydrogen bonding, the hydrogen atom of one molecule of water is attracted to the oxygen atom of another molecule of water via permanent dipole-dipole interaction.

Hence, If you have 2 water molecules together, they always sit "hydrogen to oxygen" as a result of dipole - dipole interaction and  hydrogen bonding between water molecules.

All of the following have an OCTET of electrons except
nordsb [41]

Answer:

full octets live in noble gas world so you need to be whatever your charge is away from there in steps on the periodic table so s-1 is the one that falls short as it is 2 moves away from Ar which is its closest Noble gas

PLEASE HELP!! GIVING BRAINLIEST
RSB [31]

Answer:

The answer is "0.00172172603".

Explanation:

Given:

Mass (M) = 1.60 \times 10^{-3} \ g\\\\Density (D) = 9.293 \times 10^{-1} \ \frac{g}{cm^3}\\\\Volume (V) = ?

Formula:

\to \bold{V = \frac{M}{D}}

       = \frac{1.60 \times 10^{-3}}{9.293 \times 10^{-1}} \\\\ = \frac{1.60 \times 10^{1}}{9.293 \times 10^{3}} \\\\ = \frac{1.60 \times 10}{9.293 \times 1000} \\\\ = \frac{1.60 }{9.293 \times 100} \\\\ = \frac{1.60 }{929.3 } \\\\= 0.00172172603

Resonance Structures are ways to represent the bonding in a molecule or ion when a single Lewis structure fails to describe accu
AleksandrR [38]

Answer:

See explanation

Explanation:

A Lewis structure is also called a dot electron structure. A Lewis structure represents all the valence electrons on atoms in a molecule as dots. Lewis structures can be used to represent molecules in which the central atom obeys the octet rule as well as molecules whose central atom does not obey the octet rule.

Sometimes, one Lewis structure does not suffice in explaining the observed properties of a given chemical specie. In this case, we evoke the idea that the actual structure of the chemical specie lies somewhere between a limited number of bonding extremes called resonance or canonical structures.

The canonical structure of the carbonate ion as well as the lewis structure of phosphine is shown in the image attached to this answer.
