Solve by graphing5x^2 + 8x -13 = 0I understand:a=5b=8c=-13The axis of symmetry is -b/2a. That is -8/2(5) = -4/5So, x = -4/5I thi

nk the y-intercept is (0,-13). But, beyond that, I am totally confused about this. Would love a clear explanation for why/how this works.

using the related function to the equation

y=5x^2+8x-13

then, the solutions to the system are the points where the function graph crosses the x-axis which in this case are x=1 and x=-2.6

A = b and c = d, then a x c = b x d<br> what kind of reasong is used here
Phoenix [80]
A = b is given to us

Multiply both sides by c to get
a = b
a*c = b*c
The rule to multiply both sides by c is the multiplicative property of equality

Then on the right side, replace c with d. This replacement is possible due to the fact that c = d. This is using the substitution property.

So we go from
a*c = b*c
to this
a*c = b*d

Pls help me I’m struggling
Leni [432]

Answer:  Peter  < 65

Step-by-step explanation:   Peter has less than charlie so charlie is more than or/and equal to being solid line underneath or solid line on graph represented by ≥ 65 stays equal to 65 or more which is a<em> correct statement</em> for charlie as charlie cards are<em> increasing </em>at 65 and has 65 and Peter is shown as ≤ 65 but is slightly wrong as we were told in question that 'he has just started collecting' this means it has to be or certainly less than charlie has - Just in diagram is interpreted as a <em>dotted line on graph coordinates</em><em> </em>represented by < 65<em> instead IS LESS THAN 65</em> would be correct way to interprete inequality of<em> Peters relationship value </em>to that of charlie given amount

The scores on a final exam were approximately normally distributed with a mean of 82 and a standard deviation of 11. If 85 stude
Savatey [412]

In this case, we can use the z statistic to find for the proportion of students who failed the exam. The formula for z score is given as:

t = (x – u) / s

where,

x = the sample score = 60

u = sample score mean = 82

s = standard deviation = 11

Substituting all given values into the equation:

t = (60 – 82) / 11

t = - 2

Based from the standard proportion distribution tables for z, this corresponds to:

P = 0.0228

This means that 2.28% of the students failed the exam or equivalent to:

failed students = (0.0228) * 85 = 1.938

Pentagon ABCDE and pentagon A″B″C″D″E″ are shown on the coordinate plane below:
erastova [34]

The transformations that are applied to pentagon ABCDE to create A"B"C"D"E" are:

1) Translation (x, y) → (x + 8, y + 2)

2) Reflection across the x-axis (x, y) → (x, -y)

So, the overall transformation given in the graph is (x, y) → {(x + 8), -(y + 2)}.

<h3>What are the transformation rules?</h3>

The transformation rules are:

  • Reflection across x-axis: (x, y) → (x, -y)
  • Reflection across y-axis: (x, y) → (-x, y)
  • Translation: (x, y) → (x + a, y + b)
  • Dilation: (x, y) → (kx, ky)

<h3>Calculation:</h3>

The pentagons in the graph have vertices as

For the pentagon ABCDE: A(-4, 5), B(-6, 4), C(-5, 1), D(-2, 2), and (-2, 4)

For the pentagon A"B"C"D"E": A"(4, -7), B"(2, -6), C"(3, -3), D"(6, -4), and E"(6, -6)

Consider the vertices A(-4, 5) from the pentagon ABCDE and A"(4, -7) from the pentagon A"B"C"D"E".

Applying the Translation rule for the pentagon ABCDE:

The rule is (x, y) → (x + a, y + b)

So, the variation is

-4 + a = 4

⇒ a = 4 + 4 = 8

5 + b = 7

⇒ b = 7 - 5 = 2

So, the pentagon ABCDE is translated by (x + 8, y + 2).

Applying the Reflection rule for the translated pentagon:

The translated pentagon has vertices (x + 8, y + 2).

When applying the reflection across the x-axis,

(x + 8, y + 2) → {(x + 8), -(y + 2)}

Therefore, the complete transformation of the pentagon ABCDE to the pentagon A"B"C"D"E" is (x, y) → {(x + 8), -(y + 2)}

Verification:

A(-4, 5) → ((-4 + 8), -(5 + 2)) = (4, -7)A"

B(-6, 4) → ((-6 + 8), -(4 + 2)) = (2, -6)B"

C(-5, 1) → ((-5 + 8), -(1 + 2)) = (3, -3)C"

D(-2, 2) → ((-2 + 8), -(2 + 2)) = (6, -4)D"

E(-2, 4) → ((-2 + 8), -(4 + 2)) = (6, -6)E"
