The ovarian follicle plays a major role in the dual function of the ovary-oocyte maturation and it releases and steroidogenesis required for regulation of its own growth and providing the proper environment in reproductive organs for the transport of gametes.
Primary follicle is the follicle which develops each month, beginning at puberty. Corpus luteum is the remnants of the follicular wall after ovulation. Primordial follicle is the follicle that releases oocyte.
