Why would you use carbon tetrachloride to remove oil

Chemistry

Carbon Tetrachloride has the property of dissolving organic materials such as oils, fats, and grease.

When we talk about dissolving something, the main factor is to know if the compound is ionic or covalent, so if it is an ionic bond or covalent bond. Usually covalent solvents or apolar solvents, like carbon tetrachloride will dissolve or remove organic matter, because it is also covalent, and ionic solvents or polar solvents, like water, will dissolve ionic compounds.

Which property of metals cannot be explained with the electron-sea model?
makvit [3.9K]
The answer is e.trends in melting points. The conductivity, shininess, malleability and ductility are associated to the electron-sea model. The characteristics of metallic bonds basically describe many of the physical properties of metals by using the formation of the so called sea of electrons that are free to move around.

The volume of solution in a test tube is measured to be 0.0067 liter. Which digits in the measurement are significant figures?
puteri [66]

Given data:

Volume of solution measured = 0.0067 L

To determine:

The number of significant figures

Explanation:

Significant figures are the number of digits that accurately describe a measured value.

As per the rules:

All non-zero digits are significant

Leading zero's i.e. the zero's after a decimal which comes before a non-zero digit are not significant

Hence in the given value 0.0067, there are 2 significant figures (6 &7)
