The coordinates of the image after reflection over line y = 1 is

preimage Image

J(2, 4 J' (2. -2)

K(-4,-2) K' (-4. 4)

L( − 1, 0) L' (-1, 2)

How to fine the coordinates of the reflected image

Reflection is one of the movements in transformation that involve creation of mirror image

The reflection to be done is over line y = 1

Transformation rule for reflection over line y at origin (0, 0)) is

(x, y) → (x, -y)

However, reflection over line y = 1 which is (0, 1) is done as follows

J(2, 4) ⇒ (2, 4 - 1) ⇒ (2, 3) ⇒ (2, 1 - 3) → J' (2, -2)

from 4 to 1 = 4 - 1 = 3 units

reflecting 3 units over y = 1

1 - 3 = -2

J' (2, -2)

K(-4,-2) ⇒ (-4, -2 - 1) ⇒ (-4, -3) ⇒ (-4, 1 - -3) ⇒ K' (-4, 4)

from -2 to 1 = -2 - 1 = -3 units

reflecting -3 units over y = 1

1 - -3 = 4

K' (-4, 4)

L (-1, 0) ⇒ (-1, 0 - 1) ⇒ (-1, -1) ⇒ (-1, 1 - - 1) ⇒ L' (-1, 2')

from 0 to 1 = 0 - 1 = -1 unit

reflecting -1 unit over y = 1

1 - -1 = 2

L' (-1, 2)

Solve for c. a = 11(4b + c)
olga2289 [7]

a = 11(4b + c)       Multiply/distribute 11 into (4b + c)  [multiply 11 to 4b and c]

a = 44b + 11c      Subtract 44b on both sides

a - 44b = 11c Divide 11 on both sides to get "c" by itself

\frac{a-44b}{11}=c You can simplify it to this(but Idk if you have to):

\frac{a}{11}-4b=c

Do you think the sum of a negative number and a positive number will always be negative?
laiz [17]
No, the sum of a negative and a positive is a negative only if the negative number is larger than the positive one. for example:
-5 +4 = -1
since negative 5 is larger, and it's negative that's why the answer is negative.
5 + -4 = 1
since 5 is the larger number, and it's positive, the number is positive.

Write a function in vertex form that is translated 3 units down and 3 units to the right of f (x) = x^2
alexandr1967 [171]

Answer:

f(x)= (x-3)^2-3

Step-by-step explanation:

Vertex Form: y= a(x-h)^2+k

a is the reflection

h and k are the vertex so in an ordered pair (x,y) = (h,k)

Since it is translating 3 units down it is going to be a negative 3. If it was translating up it would be positive 3. This represents the "k" because it is moving on the y-axis.

Since it is translating 3 units to the right it is going to be positive 3. If it was translating left it would be negative 3. This represents the "h" because it is moving on the x-axis.

After plugging it into the vertex form formula: f(x)= (x-3)^2-3

*notice when I plugged the "h" in it became negative because x-(3)= x-3*
