The health care service in which care is provided through private physicians who are paid directly on a per visit basis is termed as private, fee-for-service care.

Fee-for-service is a payment model in which doctors, physicians,  hospitals, and medical practices charge separately for each service they perform. Whatever amount the healthcare provider charges for the service is paid by patient or insurance company.

A benefit of fee for service is it encourages the delivery of care and maximizing patient visits and a con of fee for service is it offers  little or no incentive to deliver efficient care or prevent unnecessary care.

FFS might be attractive to increase revenues with a smaller patient base but it has some impacts such as it could also lead to potential patient loss.
